R.O.B. Robot Help

Post by ReddMcKnight »

Hey all. I recently repaired my ROB Robot AGAIN, and now he moves up and down, but when his arms reach the very top while moving up, after a few seconds, they slip downward some. Anyone know how I can fix this?

Unfortunately, that guide does not tell me what I need to know. See, when he raises his arms to the very top, they just slide down.

Is the clutch glued in the arm assembly shaft like you did the lower one for the swivel?

Is that the black ribbon-like circular thing? Yes, that's glued.

Yes. Maybe something in the Arm Assembly shaft is still slipping or a gear tooth is chipped. Take apart the upper arm assembly and inspect the upper gear shaft assembly. It should be solid when you hold one side and spin the other. Actually it should turn after a bit of pressure to avoid damage. This in case of the tooth binding or a kid pushing down on the arms. The problem is the clutch wears out. Hard to get a new gear shaft assembly, the reason for the glue is the fix.

Just to be clear the arm drop is not motorized, just free falling?

That's correct. Just free falling. Anyway, I'll follow your instructions and inspect it again.

Okay...I've tried EVERYTHING, and now it just falls down all the time. I don't know what to do.

Some of the pieces inside are probably not lined up. The small gear pieces and arm teeth are a real pain to get back in place. Jump back to the Guide, I posted a pic of the pieces and how they sit inside the housing.

When you had it apart, was the gear shaft assembly solid as one piece?

I didn't see a new pic...

What do you mean by solid as one piece?

EDIT: Also, some of the gears on the small metal rod seem to slide up and down the rod. Are they supposed to do that?
