The Simpsons is an excellent example.

Comics! I read an old Marvel Age today where they were announcing the launch of the 2099 series. Always fun to read Marvel Age, plus the written letters sent by fans. Kind of makes you wonder what the letter writers are doing these days.

Ever notice how tv shows will start out with a character that is less than bright, but over a few seasons said character turns into a complete buffoon? It is almost like backwards character development.
Joey still had some really bright moments in later seasons though. His character was only "dumb" for certain parts. Even as late as season 9, Joey the actor was not at all dumb.

Then again, the one reason I don't like friends is because they took their characters' flaws and really ran with them. Ross is too much of an oaf, for example, and induces too much Fremdschämen for me to enjoy thoroughly.

Actually, you're right, that is a more apt comparison; I think I'll reference him instead.

It's the trope namer, actually. Spongebob and Family Guy are the other best examples IMO.

He was a complete idiot void of common sense.

None of those scenes were of Joey acting (notice I put in there "the actor", but perhaps I should have said "in his capacity as an actor"). And a lot of those scenes we wasn't a complete idiot void of common sense (which really can be said about every single one of the Friends - desperate Ross, Phoebe and the rats, Rachel...and god knows what, Chandler quitting his job, I can't think of anything Monica did in season 9 off the top of my head).

There's an auction happening now where they have comics from the Golden to Modern Age for bid.

I'm confused.

To clarify, are you talking about "Joey" acting as a soap opera character as "Joey" on the tv show, or are you talking about Matt LeBlanc acting as "Joey"?

Looks like Moviebob did an episode on the Green Lantern news (for the material he covers, there was pretty much no way around it), and he makes some really good points; many of which I have aklready stated in this thread, but are still worth listening to: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/ ... -New-Green

I just finished Marvel's Annihilation. Pretty good. Not as good as the hype from fans promised, but still good (I still think Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War were better). I didn't read all the different mini-series that went with it, I just read Annihilation Prologue and the main 6-issue mini-series. I'm about to start Annihilation: Conquest next.

I had a couple of questions concerning it:

1. Thanos was shown hanging out with Death, and Death seemed to return the affection. The way I've always seen Thanos is pining after Death, hoping to win her affection, only to be scorned by her.
So when did Death accept Thanos as her consort?

2. In the final issue, Annihilus is shown using The Quantum Bands. When and how did he get a hold of those?

3. Speaking of the Quantum Bands, how did Quasar-Wendell Vaughn loose them?
