3. Pokemon Red (GB)
4. Red Dead Redemption (PS3)
5. Kirby's Dreamland 3 (SNES)
6. Killer7 (GCN)
7. Hitman 2: Silent Assasin (PC)
8. Max Payne 2 (PC)
9. Portal 2 (PS3)
10. Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3)

A few of these I started quite a while ago, but didn't finish. Some are backlog, and a few I don't even own yet. I doubt I'll finish all of them, but I'll be happy if I even get through half.
I see maybe only 2-3 games I would consider "classics" in that list, maybe. Is your aim to play classics or to just make a list of 10 games that you want to beat? (either is fine, of course)
Just 10 games I want to beat. Are they supposed to be classics? I didn't read the entire OP.

And some of the games on my list will be classics in the future, I'm sure, so maybe I'm just liking them before they were cool. *puts on hipster glasses*

So some pretty big spoilers for FF4, you've been warned:
I finally managed to get some pretty major characters into my party (Kain, Rosa, Rydia) and lost a few again too (Cid, Tellah). I'm currently in the underworld on the search for Dark crystals. I'm off to the Tower of Babel trying to save the final one from Golbez's clutches. This is almost the furthest I ever got, I think I managed to get just past it on my previous file.

Well, I'm currently sitting at 41% completed in Donkey Kong Country 3. It would be higher, but I had to spend all weekend moving furniture, so I'm pretty beat. I do like how the game uses level completion flags to show whether I've beaten all the bonus rooms and earned the DK coin. Some of these levels are brutal though, not just from a difficulty perspective, but from the base idea. One involved me running up trees as a giant sawblade sawed up behind me. Something about that level just seemed...morbid.

I'd say I like DKC2 more overall, but DKC3 isn't a bad game. There's an amount of openness to it that feels reminiscent of what platformers would accomplish with their open world designs once they became 3D. But I have quite a bit more to go, both in terms of levels and bonus segments.

I'm on the last boss (I'm thinking there will be two or three versions of him) in Clash of the Heroes. Once I finish that game I will start on one that is more considered a "classic." Plus I have added a classic to my list.
Classics
1. Shatterhand (NES)
2. Sonic CD (PS3) I started but stopped on the electricity level
3. Final Fight (PS3 or Mame)
4. Cave Story (DSI)
5. Shadow of the Ninja (NES) only if I beat Shatterhand first
6. A Castlevania Game (Portrait of Ruin possibly)

Not Classics that I want to beat before summer ends
6. Clash of Heroes (DS)
7. Captain America: Super Soldier (PS3) I started it so I should finish it
8. Thor (DS)
9. Ben There Dan That & Time Gentlemen Please (PC) started but now have a new PC and no save file
10. Xenoblade (Wii) maybe a end of 2012 would be a better goal
I also am thinking about another "adventure" game to add to the list. The Dig, Loom, or Fate of Atlantis.

Good Call! I already have the free version from GOG.com

Here is my final and updated list. My goal is to beat at least 6 of these games this summer.

Classics
1. Shatterhand (NES)
2. Sonic CD (PS3) I started but stopped on the electricity level
3. Final Fight (PS3 or Mame)
4. Cave Story (DSI)
5. Shadow of the Ninja (NES) only if I beat Shatterhand first
6. A Castlevania Game (Portrait of Ruin possibly)
7. Beneath a Steel Sky (PC)

Not Classics that I want to beat before summer ends
8. Clash of Heroes (DS)
9. Captain America: Super Soldier (PS3) I started it so I should finish it
10. Ben There Dan That & Time Gentlemen Please (PC) started but now have a new PC and no save file
Bonus: Xenoblade (Wii) The end of 2012 is a realistic goal, but I will keep working on it this summer.

Loom is on my Summer list...

So I've been sticking to Cave Story which I still think is great. I made it out of the labyrinth, beat the Darius-looking robofish boss, and have returned to the egg coridor only to find it a much harder area to get through this time.

I am about 6.5 hours into FF4. It is pretty quick moving so far, and not very tough - I haven't had a boss kill me yet nor have I had to repeat any sections/do any grinding.

For those who have played it:
I was just offered a trade of the Earth Crystal for Rosa, immediately after getting back on the airship with a rescued Cid after defeating the turtle-like boss
...about how far am I?

I felt so good yesterday that I actually started Final Fantasy IV :D

I'm only an hour and 1/2 in, but I'm enjoying it so far. I haven't entered the Sea Channel yet, but I'm enjoying taking my time.
