I bought my xbox late 2006 or maybe earlier , it got RRODed probably around late 2007 or early 2008.

I don't want to Jinx it , but , it has not been facing any issues since I sent to Microsoft. It is even modded which I think should add to the probability of a failure rate

I believe every fat model is defective (although I could be wrong), you're going to want to go for a 360S (slim). No reason not to go with this model, really.

My original Xbox 360 is still going. Got it around 2007. Never had any types of problems. No over heating or freezing.

I guess by the end of 2006, there was only phat models (white) , but if you mean the drive I have a Samsung cd drive.
