They have Fat HDD's and Slim HDD's , the Hard drives themselves are the same but the casings are different. The slim you have to pop open the vent to add or remove the HDD's. The Fats just snap right into the top. All 360's use HDD's

I won a like-new pristine Raiden Fighter Aces for $10.50 this afternoon, and picked up Deathsmiles for $14 new from Amazon recently. The XBLA options are awesome for shmups too (Gurange is one Erik recommended that I like a lot).

And you don't need to "pay" to sign up for live to be able to download games (I know this is obvious but some assume you need the subscription).

So I don't see you really collecting for it that much. Are you mostly going after downloadable titles I'm guessing? But I want to know what physical releases you are planning on picking up too.

There are plenty of cheap shmups that got physical releases too. He'll have a decent collection. And the region free shmups can get costly if you want unused DLC cards..
