I know Noise wants a US 360, so I'm not going to debate that at all. But I'm curious about something, since this has come up because of shmups.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the majority of the 360's shmups Japanese exclusive? I know quite a few have been released here, but I thought there were far more that were not.
So I got a 360! (AKA: swift wins)

Apparently many of the shmups are region free.CFFJR wrote:I know Noise wants a US 360, so I'm not going to debate that at all. But I'm curious about something, since this has come up because of shmups.

there are. But the ones released here are dirt cheap. And *some* of the imports are region free. Add to that the gigantic list of downloadable ones available here, and it's still plenty for me to work with. I'd rather go with US so I can scoop up the cheap US shmups, but there are *some* non-shmup 360 games (DOA4, etc) I might want that would be more hassle to import, especially if some are text-heavy.CFFJR wrote: Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the majority of the 360's shmups Japanese exclusive? There's also a handful of original Xbox games that I'm pretty sure work on 360 that I'd want (DOA3 for instance).

The Japan exclusive shmups I have are the following:
DeathSmiles II (available for download on US marketplace)
DoDonPachi DaiOuJou
DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu Black Label (available as DLC on UK release but arrange mode probably is not)
Ketsui
Radirgy Noa Massive
Everything else has eventually come to the UK or US or is region free.
Other good reasons to get a Japanese model: The iDOLM@STER + Dream Club. That is about all.

I have the Japanese release of DOA4. It can be set to English subs. Menus are English too. And it wasn't very expensive from rancor.noiseredux wrote:there are. @Noise
Makes sense! Region free titles make a huge difference, but apparently there's a lot more available than I thought. I don't really keep track of shmup releases though (burn the nonbeliever!) so I'm not surprised I didn't know.
Anyway, if you do get DOA4, let me know, we can have some matches.
I can confirm by the way, that DOA3 will work on a 360. So will DOA Ultimate.

If it weren't for Radirgy Noa Massive, Ketsui, DDP DOJ, and iDOLM@STER I would just get a US 360.

Slim models will take an add on hard drive. You just do not see it because it is internal.noiseredux wrote:

I bought a hard drive from eBay for my slim. Has worked great for a year now.
