hahaha. I don't know I just think I always agreed with Yahtzee on this. It makes much more sense that his wrists started throwing spider's webs, than that he is some kind of super genius teenager who developed this special substance and turned it into a weapon (yet he hasn't graduated from Uni yet xD).Luke wrote: But c'mon, the web shooters aren't that big. I'm very much expecting a "I only have enough web to save one of them" moment. MORAL DILEMMA!!!

I agree that it is weird to use the original origin of the web shooters, but not use the original origin of Uncle Ben. Little do I care though, about the shooters or the movie right now.
BD might know for sure, but I believe Parker only started using organic webs during either the House of M or Avenger's Disassembled, so running out of web has always been a big ordeal in the comics. However, it would be awesome if the organic web was a little more "anatomically correct". A wise cracking crime fighter who shoots webs out of his ass, now that I would be excited about seeing.

Re: New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer
The organic webbing happened during the "The Other" storyline. And it really was only to reflect the Sam Raimi movies. He's back to using the web-shooters again.
And I think it makes perfect sense for Peter to make web-shooters. He was a science geek and one of the smartest teenagers around, not just some average teenager. The fact that he made the web-shooters added to Peter's character. A lot of writers have forgotten over the years that Peter is a genius, while he may not be at Reed Richards or Tony Stark's level, he's not all that far behind them and has helped them on quite a few endeavors.

Re: New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer
Ha! I have one of those in a box somewhere. But mine are only wrist-mounted, they don't have the ridiculous glove to go with it. From my childhood, they were pretty fun. But the "webbing" is nothing more than silly-string.indecks wrote:Went to watch MIB3 tonite (200,000 times better than MIB2, almost as good as MIB1) and I saw the trailer to this movie yet again. I picked up on something I hadn't seen before.
So I understand that Peter builds his webshooters in this film, rather than having organic shooters as in the previous version. I was always ok with organic webbing (he gets strength, speed, agility, wallcrawling, spider sense.... but no spinnerettes? wtf?) but it's nice to see they're going the more traditional "OG" way of having mechanical shooters.
First of all, they're fucking HUGE. Like nearly this big:
And they light up. I'm not a fan of that. Why make them light up? What are these LA Gear Street Light shoes?

Re: New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer
Actually I was surprised just how small the webshooters were.

Count me in the group who doesn't really care one way or another whether the web shooters are mechanical or organic. With Raimi's films, I argued that organic was the logical choice.
However, it seems like they're going the route of making Peter extremely intelligent in this new series. I believe he is actually partly responsible for creating the lizard formula. In that case, I think the mechanical webshooters are a good way to convey his super intelligence.

Yeah I agree that Peter's building the webshooters shows his genius. Yes, but in the original costume they weren't noticeable. These things are like bulges that LIGHT UP when he uses them.
It just looks hokey to me.

Re: New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer
Anyone see the new (old by now) tv spot?
It's Parker saying "Whoooooooo-hooo! Hey, I'm a slingin' here! Hoo hooo! Wooo hoooooo!".
Just saw an interview with the actor who plays Parker. I have $5 on there is at least one voice-over actor as he pronounced "very challenging" as "vuryy chall cha ching".

Re: New Amazing Spider-Man Trailer
This is what I liked about the cartoon series from the nineties, it did a good job balancing Peter's personality. There were a lot of episodes where Peter's intelligence came heavily into play. Raimi's movies did an OK job at this (with probably the 2nd one with Doc Oc being the best example maybe), and it's something other Spidey cartoons since haven't done as well. For instance the newest one, Ultimate Spider-man, has him cracking WAY too man jokes and breaking the fourth-wall so often it's hard to tell Peter even knows his ass FROM his webshooters. Not too mention SHIELD just gives him all his gadgets in it.BurningDoom wrote:The organic webbing happened during the "The Other" storyline. And it really was only to reflect the Sam Raimi movies.
