Question about Ninja Gaiden

Post by Broodstar »

I've just bought a package of Game Boy games, between them: Ninja Gaiden Shadow(6$).

The problem with this cartridge is that it looks fake, but I'm not 100% sure about it and i need some professional help. (i hope I'm posting in the right thread)

Here is the front of it:
Image
The sticker looks fake as picture and code, but pretty real as material.
The cartridge itself looks original.
The game itself works fine.

And the back picture:

The cartridge, original, but the screw was replaced.

I'm only collecting Game Boy games since 2011 so I don't have too much experience. I know how to look for fake cartridges, but this one got me by surprise.
Any opinion?

Thanks a lot!

I don't think it is legit. Open it up and take a pic of the board.

The sticker is definitely not original (the image is from the japanese cover of Shadow Dancer for Mega Drive).

The shell looks pretty good. But isn't it a little yellower? I remember GB carts being grey...

Edit: Also, I don't think Ninja Gaiden Shadow was released for Gameboy Color. And Gameboy Color cartridges are transparent black. And the top part has a curve on GBC games...

I suspect it's fake. I've never the side "Game Boy Color" on the label of a cartridge before. There's no Nintendo seal. According to Wikipedia, the game was released in 1991 and it doesn't say anything about a GBC version.
Does the game play in color if you have a GBC?

The case *could* have just come from a legit cartridge that was taken apart to make this and then yellowed over time, but it's hard to say. It doesn't really matter anyway.

For all the hesitating reasons given above, this cart is definitely 100% a fake.

Reasons:

Cart should be gray.
It did not come out on GBC (and even if it did, it would be black or clear).
The label doesn't fit.
The label is wrong.
It doesn't say Tecmo.

This is what it should look like:

My opinion is that clearly you don't know how to look for fake cartridges.

-You did not bother to check what the label looks like in various regions.
-You did not open it to check the pcb.
-You didn't realize it by the wrong size of the label.
-You didn't clue in to the fact that there is no company name on the label (Nintendo does not make Ninja Gaiden).
-There was no GBC in 1991 and this game wasn't re-released years later; especially using art stolen from another game.
-Nintendo seal of quality is absent.
-You failed to realise that a much cheaper type of plastic is used than what Nintendo ever used.

In other words, stop the bullshit. If you don't know how to check for fakes, then don't lie and say you do. Ask for help honestly and you'll get better responses.
