The fact that anyone even thinks for a second that DC would make Batman gay is completely baffling.

That's like Nintendo announcing Mario is gay. Ain't happening.

I think it's pretty baffling that they'd consider turning any long time character gay in the first place, but someone at DC apparently thought that was a good idea.

And Nintendo insists on being vague about Birdo's gender. If anyone at Nintendo even jokingly suggested they turn Mario gay than the executives would probably insist he perform seppuku just for thinking about it.

I think this "come out of the closet" moment will be as shocking as Black Goliath getting an early exit in Civil War. It's all for publicity, and I could care less about a fake character's fake sexual preference. Just fight crime and look awesome.

For all of you still talking about Batman, when the announcement was first made (and quoted in my post) this reoriented character has yet to be introduced (at least as a superhero) into the new DC Universe. Batman and Superman have already been in 9 issues of comics.

Then how are they gonna explain Jade and Obsidian? And he's a Golden Age character originally, no character back then was gay because it was taboo in American public back then. I guess since it's the New 52, anything can happen. But this is gonna completely change one of the oldest characters in the DC Universe.

This looks like it will happen in the Earth 2 series. This series has the JSA taking over after Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman die/stop fighting. So in this series (reboot) he is a young CEO of the major media outlet in Gotham too young to have children. Neither Jade or Obsidian have been mentioned in the new continuity.
MTV has also leaking the rumor that it is Scott.

Sometimes i wonder which is better?

DC blowing up their continuity ever few years, or doing huge retcons at a level near that?

Or Marvel who absolutely wont do a major universe continuity restart when they probably need it?

I mean the closest thing they have to compare to DC lately is One More Day and One Moment in time (both insanely stupid IMO)

What purpose does it serve to make Scott retroactively gay? Are there great stories that will come about because of this?

Worse yet doesn't this just spit on all the writers that wrote him as a straight man before. None of their work counts now?

How about making new intersting characters that happen to be gay, instead of starting from making them gay as their only character trait or retconning characters to be gay.

I mean look at the new Blue Bettle. He was a new character that happeend to be Latino and they didnt beat you over the head with that fact. He was a normal teenager that happened to be Latino, he was normal.

And as a Latino i was very happy to see that. Its not like we have that many comic superheroes to be proud of.

"Lets Make Allan Scott and the rest of Earth 2 JSA young and relevant again."
"Wait Allan has two grown kids who are also super heroes, what should we do with them?"
"It's a new universe... they never existed."
"Oh man, without his son Obsidian we don't have a male gay hero anymore. Marvel has Northstar."
"Hmm... if his son isn't gay anymore..."
"You're right AND do you realize all the free press we can get for this!"
