Post by nickfil »

kinda crazy.

dolphin the gamecube emulator can be changed with a plugin to run wii games.
Still won't stop me from buying wii games though. Just picked up zelda and zack and wiki.
Becides- my computer would probably wouldn't run those games well.

The Wiimote is bluetooth, so I guess it would be a matter of time.

It''s not really that crazy that Wii emulation has come already, the console's just two GameCubes duct taped together, not too much to reverse engineer. Didn't think that there'd be a plugin for it.

Wiimotes are just blue tooth controllers. Hell, the PS3 controller already works in Windows and Linux.

That's one of the reason they got hacked so quickly and got chipped within a year of release. I remember seeing a conference where they were demonstrating the hack on the wii. They said the security was akin to changing the root password and thats it. It was only a matter of time before they broke the key.

Motion control is easy. There's already a program called GlovePIE that you can make scripts for what you want the wiimote to do when say, it's pitch changes by 10 degrees or crap like that. If someone just integrated the two things into one...made a script....bam.
Somebody sell me a model 1 modchip for Saturn. Please.

Actually the Wii is one and a half Gamecubes. According to Wikipedia, the processor only runs at 150% Gamecube speed.

I wonder how long it will be before the Chinese produce a perfect replica of the Wii on a $50 budget.

Well, the duct tape would take away some of the processing power. ;)
