Oh sweet christmas on a pogo stick. Can we please not start top X lists up again? Instead of people just vomiting up pointles lists with no discussion, at least talk about them and why you like them. No numbers, no lists. Just discussion.

Was no lists part of the rules here? Because I didn't see that.
Don't like it don't post instead of pissing on other people's parades. And I'm sure discussion will ensue, they usually do with lists because not everyone agrees.

Re: What Are Your Top 10 Comic Book/Superhero Movies?
So yeah, as my last post shows, I can make a top 10 list just populated with Batman movies or Batman related movies. DC has put out so many good animated movies. If we take the goddamn Batman out of the equation though, then I guess my favorites would be:
1.The Crow - I love dark heroes and the supernatural. Plus, this movie has a great sense of style to it
2. X2: X-Men United - First Class was good, but this is just a meatier movie. And it has more Wolverine, can't beat that.
3. Spider-Man (Sam Raimi) - Seeing his origin story play out was fun and is what puts this one over the sequel for me.
4. Scott Pilgrim vs the World - I haven't read the comic, but as a gamer I had a lot of fun watching this and I enjoy the funny dialog, the references, the special effects, and just the overall energy that this movie exudes.
5. Hellboy 2 - I'm not a big Hellboy fan but his movies are fun and I especially liked this one. I really like the visual style of Guillermo del Toro films as seen in this and Pan's Labyrinth.
6. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - A lot of people forget or just don't know that these are comic book characters
7. Kickass - This felt like a fun parody of super hero movies, but also an interesting examination of what being a super hero in real life might entail.
8. Men in Black - I never read the comics, but damn if this isn't a fun, rewatchable movie. I liked the second one too, unlike some people.
9. Darkman - This has a lot of the trademark Sam Raimi visual stylings and weirdness that we saw in his other films like Evil Dead 2
10. The Incredibles - This was just a great, fun, family movie that both celebrates and pokes fun at super heroes.
Honorable Mentions:
Unbreakable - A super hero movie that takes itself a bit more seriously than most and avoids most tropes and conventions
Sin City - I put this in honorable mentions because as much as I enjoyed it, and Robert Rodriguez movies in general, it doesn't hold up well on repeat viewings. 300 is even less rewatchable. These movies are a bit more style than substance
Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - How bout that, a great Super Villain movie. How bout a list for that? This would probably be the only entry that I can thin of
Super - Another interesting take on the Kickass formula, it's a bit more provocative though arguably less entertaining. Hence Kickass making my list
There are some movies I haven't seen yet so I can't consider them for the list. I haven't seen any of the more recent Marvel movies like Cap America, Thor, Avengers, etc.

My thoughts on the lists so far, since I assume feedback is part of the reason why people are posting them?

(this post best read in the voice of Comic Book Guy)
And the low ranking of Sin City? For shame!
I do like the inclusion of Blade, though.

This list baffles me. Not only would I not put The Crow, First Class, or the godawful Connery-killing League anywhere near my top ten, but the absence of The Dark Knight despite the presence of Batman Begins completely defies explanationBurningDoom wrote:What Are Your Top 10 Comic Book/Superhero Movies? I simultaneously applaud you for inclusion of Darkman and a Hellboy film whilst wondering WTF at the inclusion of Scott Pilgrim (if there's been a worse comic book film in the past 10 years I've not seen it) and any mention at all of Unwatchable Unbreakable. The only good think I can say about that film is that it was an early warning that Shyamalan was a one-trick pony, and it told me that I never needed to see another one of his films again.Gamerforlife wrote: 1.The Crow
