Yeah, on a crt, they box it into 16:9, and then box it in on the sides to make it 4:3

Judging from my experience playing this last year, definitely use diagonal shot for level 2, but lasers become pretty important after that just so you can do enough damage to take out the tougher enemies.sabrage wrote: I've been playing this quite a bit while waiting for shipments at work. I'm currently working on perfecting the last two levels, and then I'm going to start working towards a 1cc. As with all Gradius games, I can do great when I'm fully upgraded... But it can be very difficult to recover from a death. I almost always go with the diagonal shot, though I'm thinking lasers may be the way to go on level 3 to take out the Moai. It's definitely a very faithful translation of the Gradius formula, and a game I think every Gameboy fan should own.

I've been playing a lot of ESP Ra.De on the cab, such a cool game
Its rare that Cave doesn't punish you for bombing, and the scoring system is intuitive, and pretty simple to boot.
I think this is my favorite Joker Jun game

ESP Ra.De is pretty great. I've only played it a few times, but the art style is awesome. So much blood!

More shmups need blood and gore. Like Guwange.

Yeah, I love the amount of blood that spews from a slain enemy in both Ra.De and Guwange. I really love how animated their little character sprites are. Their art styles are sweet as well.
I think what I love most about Ra.De over Joker's other ESP games is that it really feels like a military setting. Out of the first 3 random order stage bosses, only one of them is a small human, the others being a huge tank and cool airship. The 4th boss is a giant robot tank thing. It gives the fights that are human to human a really epic feel, especially when you get the guy as stage 3 and he summons his buddy.

Esprade has beautiful graphics. You can tell that Joker Jun put a lot of care into it. I read an interview of his (I think on gamengai) where he talks about how he was not happy with the way the graphics turned out in Air Gallet, and Esprade was his next game after that. There are so many little details. In one of the stages, you can see graffiti on one of the walls reads "New Jack City".dunpeal2064 wrote:Yeah, I love the amount of blood that spews from a slain enemy in both Ra.De and Guwange. I could take no more.
I had to figure out the problem w/this board tonight, or die tryin', just like Fitty.
Ignore the score (please...) was just getting a nice shot
