I thought I was alone here! Everything about First Class except Fassbender was incredibly hokey to me, and that Magneto movie they're making is going to blow. "Let's take the only good part of a mediocre movie and flog it until it stops coughing up money!"

Always is, as it should be. But sometimes a movie just sucks, and I don't mind if some people enjoy it, but sometimes you need to call a spade a spade. It can be like saying "Listen, Urkel-bot wasn't that bad and has some redeeming qualities". To which I would say "No, the Urkel-bot was terribly awful".

Here is a good example of what I just mentioned. First Class to me was drab. The pace was awful, the cgi looked dated even on opening night and the characters even seemed bored. Too much origin stuff with not enough payoff.

MAGNETO could be good though, who knows?

But yeah, when I say a movie sucks, it's nothing personal. And I don't rely on critics, but when 90% of people who devote their lives to reviewing movies say "this sucks" I have no qualms as using that as a reference.

First Class was the last time I let the critic hype train dupe me into seeing a movie. Think it was the last time I saw a movie in theaters, too. I thought it look bad before it came out, but I let the 90% RT rating trick me... And didn't enjoy it much at all. I tend to stick to my gut now.

Holy shit.

They did give it almost a 90%.

I love X-Men First Class, awesome comic movie, one of my favorite. But I still think X2 is a better movie.

X2 was the best one. First class was the second best one, but that's not saying a whole lot since I thought all the other sucked. It sort of flew under the radar for a while and as it got close to release the hype just came out of nowhere. Then all sorts of critical praise followed. I think it was just a matter of people getting something better than they expected. I was paying so little attention to it though that when I finally heard all the hype and went and saw it, I was underwhelmed.

And I'm pretty sure they're not making a magneto movie anymore. What existed of that movie became First Class.

Twice? When? X-Men Origins: Wolverine and what else?

We saw glimpses, slivers of Wolverine's origin, which we weren't even sure were true or not at the time. Not the same at all.
