When I loaded up Amazon the other day, the entire first page was watch recommendations. Wish I'd taken a screenshot it; now it's only like half watches.

Currently loving this Issey Miyake piece:
Image
The two hands are actually rotating plates of stainless steel, and there's no crystal whatsoever. It has a very minimalistic, almost monolithic look that really sets it apart. There's two versions of this watch: a smaller, 41mm ~$400-500 range quartz, and a much more expensive 45mm $1500 version that utilizes an automatic movement (it also eliminates that anachronistic machined "Issey Miyake" imprint on the bezel.) Unfortunately, all the reviews of the $500 version indicate that the build quality is rather poor, but that won't stop me from drooling over its excellent aesthetic.

Sometime next month. I haven't found anything that can beat the Steinhart Ocean One in terms of build quality and features and as an all-around watch there's no parallel to the classic Submariner styling. I could buy one second-hand right now, but with the Euro plummeting I can't imagine there will be a better deal on the market than this watch when it comes back in stock next month.

Eh, phones aren't waterproof and they aren't hands free to look at the time. So if you're in the rain, riding a bike, hanging off the side of a cliff, or underwater, a water and sweat proof timepiece that's firmly attached to your wrist is handy. :)
Speak for yourself. My Casio Brigade is waterproof and impact "resistant."

Wrist watches are very important if you are in sales. It is incredibly rude to look at your phone during a sales meeting.

That is awesome. Tell me how it is, I might buy that instead of a submariner when mine dies one me.
