I'd have bought that collection years ago except for the fact that I've never been 100% satisfied with Genesis emulation.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I've been seriously considering getting it simply based on the fact that it's cheaper than buying Shining Force II alone.Opa Opa wrote:That Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is fantastic. Seriously, there are only about 6 or 7 titles that I'd want for Genesis that aren't on that collection, all Treasure and Technosoft games.

Just wanted to congratulate you on a fine purchase. I love me some TL2 and I've been playing it this past weekend. The PS2 port gets G-Darius and RayCrisis which is also nice. PC port not only gets Rayforce, but also gets Cadash, a classic favorite of mine, and Bubble Symphony, a fine sequel.mjmjr25 wrote:I have been sourcing a "Metal Black" PCB for the SotM, but haven't found one for under $250, so I decided to get the PS2 "Taito Legends 2" disc so I would be able to play next month.
Just wow, this disc is loaded with excellent arcade games - I had no idea a lot of these games were ever ported at all, i'm sorta well, shocked.
Doesn't hurt that nearly 1/3 of the entire collection is shmups. Besides the excellent Metal Black, check out Genkiridan, Grid Seeker Project Storm Hammer, and 2 great updates to Space Invaders.
By all means, the rest of the games are great too. Cameltry, Growl, Legend of Kage, and many others!

On that subject then you guys, with my recent GameCube purchase, besides Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3 and the Namco Museum games, what other classic compilations are there for the GC?

Re: Help Wanted: Best Compilation Sets/Discs out there?
Is it really a trilogy when the gamedisc contains 6 installments of Sam Sho?...and I would like to add Samurai Showdown Trilogy on that etc.
Anywho, these compilations are also worth noting...
Street Fighter Anniversary collection (PS2, XB)
Street Fighter Alpha Anthology (PS2): easily my most favorite collection on the PS2.
Darkstalkers Collection (PS2 import)

Mike as far as the Capcom collections go, if the Saturn discs are anything like the PS1 discs (Capcom Generations) then the PS2 releases are basically compilations of those.

Was going to ask the same thing. Could you expound on this mjmjr25?ExedExes wrote:On that subject then you guys, with my recent GameCube purchase, besides Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3 and the Namco Museum games, what other classic compilations are there for the GC?
To note, I already have all the GCN compilations and all the Wii compilations.

Capcom Classics Collection Volume 1 and 2 are also really good for the PSP. I need to make sure I snag the PS2 versions also. 1942 and 1943 are on the first and are, of course, awesome.noiseredux wrote:Mike as far as the Capcom collections go, if the Saturn discs are anything like the PS1 discs (Capcom Generations) then the PS2 releases are basically compilations of those.
This is one of my favorite Racketboy pieces:

I heard the author was working on a PS1 and PS2 list as well

One that pops to mind for me, offhand, is the Sonic Gems collection - the GC has the Sonic Mega Collection as well, which was released on other systems in the US, but the Gems collection was only released for the GC here (it saw a PS2 release in EU/JP). It has Sonic CD, Sonic-R, and Sonic Fighters, along with a number of Game Gear Sonic titles and (for the US) Vectorman 1 & 2.ExedExes wrote:On that subject then you guys, with my recent GameCube purchase, besides Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3 and the Namco Museum games, what other classic compilations are there for the GC?
Also unique to the system are the Zelda compilation discs, which are moderately valuable titles.
Not unique to the system are the Mega Man Anniversary and Mega Man X collections. They were reprinted for the PS2, however, and are much cheaper to buy for that (about $10 apiece new, making them cheaper than used GC copies). However, the GC version of the Anniversary collection has a few more "extras" to unlock on the GC (art/etc), I think.

Do not -- DO NOT -- buy Mega Man Collection for GCN. They switched the jump and shoot buttons. Srsly.isiolia wrote: Not unique to the system are the Mega Man Anniversary and Mega Man X collections.
