Sorry to say Luke, but I'm not always out to get you...

I'm serious as cancer. *yeah yeah, chirping crickets and stuff*

They study conventional medicine. It doesn't get more narrow-minded than that...

Dude. You honestly think every University studies the same material? Even NC State, Duke, and UNC (separated by just miles) have totally different programs, as most states do. That's what acceptance and school differentiation is about.

Have you gone to college? Not asking to be be demeaning, but your blanket statement is like saying "all teachers study conventional teaching".

^That is narrow minded thinking near its apex.

Great. Now you have to bring God into this ;)

Very lightly I'll just say (not surprisingly) that a ton of people are over medicated. That's it.

...this is coming off like a pancake post isn't it?

Not to condemn salesmen, but not selling is failure, and most MBA grads in my surrounding States (not cities or counties) drool at any opportunity to be a pharm salesman.

It's big money for everyone involved.

No, in fact, I think both natural and conventional medicine have their benifits and limitations...

Sure, not all schools will teach exactly the same thing in the same way. But in essence they will teach variations of the same thing...

It is demeaning nonetheless. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology. if you must know.

Common sense, people.

Also, the numbers are, have been and will always be skewed either for and against you depending what side you take. People can take the most meaningless statistics such as benign growths, boils, moles, freckles, etc... and call them cancer because in the technical (and far-reaching) sense they are.

Also, we live in a global community now. anytime you think about how cancer rates have doubled, etc... just think about how many other cultures and countries are intermingling and communicating like never before.

For Example: If a man from India is diagnosed with cancer in Chicago on a business trip, then you just added one person to both Chicago and India's statistics. Who cares if they don't live in Chicago, it happened there, and the bean counters are going to make sure it shows so they get more grant/research money in local facilities, etc... to combat the rising epidemic or whatever they're going to refer to it next.

Early diagnosis helped me defeat a growth that could have become a form of rectal cancer about two years ago, luckily it was benign. But, does that mean I have cancer or fear getting it? Fuck no.

It was a growth, it was removed and now I can poop without fear, end of story.

Not to mention the very definition of the disease Cancer has changed significantly in recent years and can apply to a myriad of conditions considered cancerous in the medical community.

Also, if you're so afraid of HFCS then don't buy products with it. If you act instead of complain then things will change. But think of it in a real sense, lots of things have mercury and other known poisons in them that few of us even stop to consider. Things such as nuts, fish, mushrooms, meats, milk, etc... It's not that these things are inherently poisonous, they're all acceptable within tolerable limits.

Now how about diversifying your diets and eating a homemade sandwich every now and then?

Also, is it that the number of incidents is higher than 100 years ago or is it the percentages of the population? Because the incidents can go up while at the same time the percentages go down.

The world population is estimated 7+ billion now. In 1960 it was 3 Billion. We should expect to see rates about twice as high if the percentage stayed the same. Add in variables such as early detection, more accurate diagnosing, changes of what we're exposed to nowadays, and.... I clearly have no idea how to come to an accurate assumption.

Interesting pull from the wiki article:
Global cancer rates have been increasing primarily due to an aging population and lifestyle changes in the developing world.[4] The most significant risk factor for developing cancer is old age.[95] Although it is possible for cancer to strike at any age, most people who are diagnosed with invasive cancer are over the age of 65.[95] According to cancer researcher Robert A. Weinberg, "If we lived long enough, sooner or later we all would get cancer."[96]
