Common sense, people.

Also, the numbers are, have been and will always be skewed either for and against you depending what side you take. People can take the most meaningless statistics such as benign growths, boils, moles, freckles, etc... and call them cancer because in the technical (and far-reaching) sense they are.

Also, we live in a global community now. anytime you think about how cancer rates have doubled, etc... just think about how many other cultures and countries are intermingling and communicating like never before.

For Example: If a man from India is diagnosed with cancer in Chicago on a business trip, then you just added one person to both Chicago and India's statistics. Who cares if they don't live in Chicago, it happened there, and the bean counters are going to make sure it shows so they get more grant/research money in local facilities, etc... to combat the rising epidemic or whatever they're going to refer to it next.

Early diagnosis helped me defeat a growth that could have become a form of rectal cancer about two years ago, luckily it was benign. But, does that mean I have cancer or fear getting it? Fuck no.

It was a growth, it was removed and now I can poop without fear, end of story.

Not to mention the very definition of the disease Cancer has changed significantly in recent years and can apply to a myriad of conditions considered cancerous in the medical community.

Also, if you're so afraid of HFCS then don't buy products with it. If you act instead of complain then things will change. But think of it in a real sense, lots of things have mercury and other known poisons in them that few of us even stop to consider. Things such as nuts, fish, mushrooms, meats, milk, etc... It's not that these things are inherently poisonous, they're all acceptable within tolerable limits.

Now how about diversifying your diets and eating a homemade sandwich every now and then?

The world population is estimated 7+ billion now. In 1960 it was 3 Billion. We should expect to see rates about twice as high if the percentage stayed the same. Add in variables such as early detection, more accurate diagnosing, changes of what we're exposed to nowadays, and.... I clearly have no idea how to come to an accurate assumption.
