I remember a few years ago when they said that hotdogs caused cancer.

Stories like this come out every few years and authors like scaring people. How many parents freak out when stories like this come out?

we are gullible and like to follow certain trends.

How many parents freaked out with their babies when they heard the lie of "Autism is caused by Vaccines?"

How many kids are out there without shots?

Sure, some of these things have been proven true. But how many more are just hype/lies/propaganda?

I'm not saying mercury is definitely in HFCS, but, soooo many more people get cancer these days then 50-100 years ago. I wonder why.

We can now detect it more efficiently.

Ask old people how many children had cancer when they were young.

Fact that even small children get cancer nowadays shows that it's more than just better detection. The chance you get cancer nowadays is MUCH HIGHER than a few decades ago...

With the cancer argument.... a LOT of things have been proven or suggested to give cancer at this point, which have been used for years before cancer got real big. I have no reason to believe that cancer is more common nowadays, and I don't. I listen to the stories of family, putting mercury on mouth sores and smokes since they were 9, never got cancer or anything. I think its just the genetics getting bad, really and for true.

Though you raise a good point, Hobie, there were far less precautions back when. Perhaps a lot of preventable cancer situations have occurred.

Also things like asbestos and lead white paint that were used for years.

Health care is a business. Medicine is a business. Medical equipment is a business.

I'm saying to use common sense. Not all doctors are out to screw you, but others are. Honest people in pharmaceutical sales will say the same thing: it's about selling product. And what's the best way to sell product? Fear.

Again, nothing against the profession but you have to understand there are always a few bad apples. I always prefer visiting a certified internest for any health issues. I'll also add that as soon as I stopped relying on albuterol to cure my asthma, I went from using it once a day to maybe twice a year.
