Only if the Dreamcast has the same civil(virtual?) rights as it's predecessors. I refuse to participate in prejudiced gaming sessions.o.pwuaioc wrote: Hey, I didn't say I agree with them, just that they're potential arguments. You're still coming over, right?

You wouldn't like my house then. All other Segas are second-class citizens compared to my Genesis.fvgazi wrote:Only if the Dreamcast has the same civil(virtual?) rights as it's predecessors. Just kinda curious why you used my statement in your quote. I think you misread my meaning, I wasn't trying to convey the incestual stereotype sometimes associated with southerners, I would have said the same thing no matter what the state was.DinnerX wrote:markeconrad wrote:OMG I just fell down a slippery slope! Basically a lot of people consider incest morally wrong, just like homosexuality. What I am saying is for all of those vehemently against the amendment passing would they also be this up in arms if this was one against incest marriages, of which only cousin marriages are considered legal in some states, and which would also be two consenting adults. I personally do believe that if homosexual marriages become legal so should incest. Who am I to say what is and isn't their rights between too consenting adults and which consequences won't affect me. By the way North Carolina is one of the states where cousin marriages are legal.

Re: Amendment One is Passed in North Carolina
My opinion is that the government should not be entangled with something like marriage. At all. However, since they have chosen to provide tax related benefits to people who marry, then they should provide these benefits to any consenting adults. And polygamy? Sure, why not. No idea how the taxes would work on that, but if 5 women want to share one husband, and one dude is okay with the insanity that is five women, more power to 'em. And vice versa of course.pepharytheworm wrote:

It is not the government's business. Stay out of it completely, or treat all equally, even if it makes us look at the government and go "eeeew, you're supporting THAT?".

I just thought markeconrad was making light of people's moral concerns with his slippery slope comment. Re: Amendment One is Passed in North Carolina
The official Obama store is now offering a bunch of LGBT stuff (link). Wow. This poster just blows me away.
This is really classless. He comes out and says "I support gay marriage, but I'm going to leave it to the states." Romney says "I don't support gay marriage, but I'm going to leave it to the states." That's the same stance policy-wise. Something like 30 states already ban it! Obama is suggesting that he is for marriage equality with stuff like this poster, but he is not going to do anything about it!
Obama is trying to have it both ways. He gives these statements that are meant to be heard however people want to interpret them. The LGBT community hears that he supports them. The Obama supporters who are unsure or against gay marriage hear that it's just his personal opinion and that he's not going to have it affect his policy.
He's playing a game with the lives of the people in this community. It is cruel and cynical. He did nothing to establish that gay marriage is a right. What is he saying — that he would eat a piece of cake at a gay wedding if the state the happy couple lives in allows it?*
Geez.

I really enjoyed reading chickenskin's post (on page 18 of this thread, I think).
He displayed an open mind, and like most of my Christian friends also understands the message of love thy neighbor. I heavily applaud all Christians who reflect his view that you can staunchly believe that marriage should be between a man and woman but also accept the fact that people should be treated equally.
Hat's off to you Chicken.
