Re: Amendment One is Passed in North Carolina

Post by ElkinFencer10 »

Having spent the past 17 years of my life in North Carolina, I feel fully entitled to say fuck my state, fuck my legislature, and fuck the stupid fucking morons that infest my state. I wish I could say I'm surprised, but that doesn't diminish the rage and disappointment that I feel. As if John Edwards didn't shame the state enough, we need this shit, too?

Sorry if my colorful post offended anyone. I'm beyond pissed, though it turned out exactly the way I expected it to. God forbid the South do anything except take a huge fucking leap backwards....

Guess I'm not too surprised. This same shit went down in "progressive" Maine a few years ago.

Well, the only good thing about this is that people are going to be making a lot of noise about this amendment passing, which will lead to greater discussion of this issue, and will likely lead to the repealing of the amendment later on.

I've never visited the South, or any part of USA for that matter, but to me as an outsider it's surprising how liberal the South is, when you look at how it's pictured in American media and when you look at how things were there back in the 1960s. I dont know if Texas counts as South, and cities are always more liberal, but to me it looks like things have changed a lot within the past few decades when you look at Houston for example (3/4 of population is ”non-white”, lesbian mayor etc).
Using American political terms, I live in a very ”progressive” country, and you'd be surprised at how conservative many young people (16-24) are.

There are morons everywhere man. What saddens me are the people who think the "taught the gays a lesson".

This is about civil rights, not butt penis activity. People shouldn't have to vote on civil rights.

"All men are created equal".

So it says.

If people vote, I can't see gay marriage becoming legal in a long, long time. There are too many bigots and the voting makes it socially acceptable to put down gay people because it because a matter of opinion, so as to speak.

No referendum is made without knowing the result beforehand either.

What happened in Colorado this morning was absolutely fucking disgraceful. I'm ashamed to be a member of this species today.

Yup. Here in Maine (I live outside the capitol) when same sex marriage was overturned there were celebrations put on by the Christian Civic League and other hate groups. Terrible shit. I asked the leader of the Christian Civic League why he was so hellbent on oppressing innocent folks he'll likely never interact with. His only response was, "How did you get here? You should be arrested." Classy guy!

I'm in such a shitty mood today seeing this all over the news.

...The same people who wag their fingers at China for marginalizing Bo Xilai, or Putin for arresting protestors, as if the abuses of other ideologies can be held to a different standard than their own. I love growing up in a culture dominated by old-world superstition and ignorance.
