Maurice Sendak died
The author of many children books, including Were the Wild Things Are, passed away this morning from complications from the stroke he had earlier this year.

Re: Maurice Sendak died
Heard about his death when I woke up this morning, but haven't been able to put in words how I feel. I don't want to praise nor speak ill of the man as he touched a lot of hearts and imaginations, and I hope this doesn't come out condescending but Sendak was a weird-o.
I believe in all of my heart that his weirdness was totally genuine and without his personality his stories would have not come to light, so bless him for that. Without people like him we wouldn't have films directed by Kubrick, comics written by Starlin, and music from R.D.James.
However, those who have ever met the man or just watched a televised interview, Sendak was on another planet. I like to think he still is.

That's sad. His books were part of my childhood.

Rip Mr Sendak. I never cared for his books....even as a child...something was a little off about drawing a naked boy, penis and all, falling into milk...but to many, especially in the GLTG movement he was a hero. So on that note I say you lived a valuable life Mr Sendak and my sympathies go out to your life partner.
