That's what I was talking about.

And if anyone else played GG, it wouldn't have worked for precisely this reason. But William DaFoe owned that role.

We'll never see eye to eye on this (it's Willem btw).

I'll agree that the Goblin is an overboard maniacal lunatic, which Willem does very well, but as soon as he puts on that goofy ass costume it doesn't matter who plays GG; it's already dead in the water. That scene on the rooftop where GG tries to pal around with Spidey is unbearable. I feel embarrassed for the director, the cast, and any one involved.

The last time I watched Spider-Man was probably a year ago, and I turned it off after an hour. It looks so incredibly cheap and the story was so formulated that I couldn't enjoy it. I'm all for dumb and mindless fun (I love Tyler Perry movies) but Spider-Man only delivers the dumb.

A few years ago I would have said Spider-Man 2 was one of the top three best superhero movies of all time, but then I watched it again. It's superior to the first installment, but makes the same mistakes. It tries too hard, has awful cgi, awful sets, awful delivery, and a story that a five year old could predict.

I don't think I need to even mention my thoughts on Spider-Man 3.

I agree with all of this, except the Tyler Perry thing  . There is a definite sense of trying really hard to impress with things that aren't at all impressive. And I don't think anyone needs to explain what makes 3 horrid, it did that on it's own.

This looks pretty good to me. I wouldn't say the CGI looks anywhere near as bad as Thor, Luke.

I agree with Luke about the original trilogy though. Those movies have not aged well at all, I'd probably get more fun out of rewatching the first Power Rangers movie (maybe a stretch?...) but yeah seriously. And we all know the third movie was just awful, tried to do way too much.

I still think Topher Grace would've been a great Spider-Man.

At least we can all agree that Spider-Man 3 was terrible.

I think you're missing out, but I can completely understand why some people do not enjoy TP films. Actually I just lied, I don't understand why people wouldn't love TP films, but to each his own.

Thor did his own drop kicks (plenty of them at that). Thor on the small screen, I have to admit, looks better than on the big screen but I would say the cgi was a huge upgrade from Spider-Man.

It's a tired subject, suspension of belief, but fuck all get out if the Spider-Man (men) movies didn't show a huge distinction of cgi Spidey and an actor in a suit. At least Amazing let's us know it's going to be a shit ton of cgi. In the original trilogy it was obvious cartoon spidey, and then we see Toby literally jump into frame as if we were led to believe he was actually swinging webs around town. Bullshit. It looks downright stupid and isn't an improvement from the 1970's tv series.

And again, the sets are terrible. The parade scene is astronomically awful. When GG throws a pumpkin bomb at the previous owners of Oscorp (plus MJ), you can actually see the styrofoam "bricks" breaking apart. It looks as laughable as the styrofoam rocks used in the original Star Trek series.

I couldn't agree more with Topher being a great cast for Spidey. I always thought his female counterpart from That 70's show would have also made a great MJ...but that would be too much.

Tying things together with nitpicking; Ugh, Mary Jane has never been represented well on screen. I'm intrigued to see how Gwen Stacy will fair in the new movie adaptation, and it is almost a shame that Gwen wasn't in the original movie trilogy. So much there left untapped (the story line, not Gwen's blonde ass).

Not too big of a spidey fan. I'm not all that big on super heroes. But, this one looks a bit different, perhaps even better. Spidey just doesn't get me off the ground. I've always liked the idea that Spider Man was just on some huge drug trip, explaining why his squeeze was named Mary Jane...
