Ok. I am playing dungeon keeper its from 97 and looking at the graphics looks more like '95 on win7 on 2008 2GHZ core2dou 3gb ram 9400m nvidia. I got it from GOG.
I was wondering why does it turn my computer hot running this game. My hatdware should see this game requirements as peanuts. There is also a lot of Frames dropping when huge number of creatures are bashing each other although am not sure if it is a software thing.
I cant understand why my computer will work just as hard as running a recent HD game, if any one knos why I would like to hear.
I am under the impression that if i keep my computer working hard it will go bust

The emulation DOSBox uses still uses up processor power far in excess of the original system requirements.
As for damaging your computer by working it hard, it's only if there isn't adequate cooling. As long as the components stay below a certain temperature then you're fine.

Yeah, what MrPopo said: DOSBox.
You might want to get a cooling pad for your laptop to help keep those temperatures down.

am not sure if it gets hot only with this game, i think I got similar heat level playing left4dead and WoW 2 years ago.
I am getting heat around the 75C .
I thought cooling pads were something that companies came up with to take your money, I thought it doesnt work? does it? if so can you recommand one?

When you emulate a game through Dosbox you need like 8 times more power than it used to need. Hence, emulating a pentium game is quite a feat!

That's... High. You're going to be infertile if that thing is actually on your lap.kingmohd84 wrote:I am getting heat around the 75C .
By comparison, the last time I checked my computer (a tower, but still) was sitting at around 20°C.

Geez, 75C!? most modern computers I've used shut down before it hits that hot.
Re: Why does it turn my laptop hot
That's nearly twice the internal body heat of a person. Is that actually a measured value, or are you just guessing?

my old laptop would get around 86C before it would shut off, and that was with the rear propped up on the table by a few inches.MrPopo wrote:That's nearly twice the internal body heat of a person. Is that actually a measured value, or are you just guessing?
