Quick art selection?

My question is, what are the remote and nunchuck controls like? I now the Classic controller is the way to go, but does the game handle ok with remote? What are the buttons mapped to?
I personally didn't like the Classic controller option. You control your character with the left analogue stick and during a battle you select your abilities with the d-pad. So basically you have to stop controlling your characters movements to use an ability. With the nunchuck combo you move with the nunchuck and use the wiimote d-pad for abilities. Also to start a battle you have to push l and r, but only z to start a battle on the nunchuck. The only downside to me about the nunchuck is that you have to hold c and use the dpad for camera movement, which is very awkward during battles.

lol, that last one sounds very awkward. And mate, you don't need to press anything to start a battle, you select a target, select an art and the battle starts

Ok so the classic controller sounds pretty damn awkward, so I'll stick with the remote and nunchuck. Thanks

I'm gonna sit and get Wind Waker finished this weekend so my time is clear for Xenoblade :D

I think it was more comfortable mate. Moving the camera around is more important than moving and selecting arts. specially since arts depend on position so you'll already have moved to the position before you select your art

You have to press L and R to target an enemy to start a battle, then select the battle icon. How the heck are you starting a battle without pressing any buttons? Even if the enemy engages you first you have to still target then select battle icon.

Also I find just tapping c is a find work around for the camera in battles as that is where I would want the camera anyway. But every one should try both options to see which is best for you, but you have to restart the game every time you switch control methods, which is weird.

Im going to agree with ZeroAX here, i preffered classic controls. I'm also fairly certain you only need to use EITHER L or R to target an enemy before starting a battle, and having the two targetting buttons makes it easier to select the right enemy without having to shuffle through them all in turn as on the nunchuck.

No, he means you just have to reboot it. Not start a new game all the way from the beginning.

And @pepharytheworm, yeah what alienjesus said is what I remember. You use L and R to shuffle through the enemies, and when you choose the one you want you just press a and battle starts. Dude you must be remembering it wrong.

Ah, thats not so bad then :) I'd be pissed of to play for a few hours and decide that I wanted to swap controllers if I had to start over.

Well it sounds like opinion is split on the controller issue. I ask as I don't yet have a Classic Controller and wondered if it was worth getting one for this. I think I give the remote and chuck a try for a bit and see what I think of it.
