Collectibles can also be used as gift items to raise character affinity. I think the most of any collectible I've ever seen needed for a quest was 8, so keep at least 8. Materials I've seen up to 10 needed.

Sell off some. The game doesn't tell you all the items needed for quests. Just some. I'm not sure how the system works.

Making gems is pretty pointless until you can make really good ones later in the game. It's just a bit too time consuming, and you really need strong affinities between your characters in order to reach "Heat" and "Mega Heat." Reaching "Heat" (or 200) will yield a gem one level higher than the crystals you're working with, and reaching "Mega Heat" (or 300) will yield 2x gems one level higher than the crystals you're working with.

PS: Although it's still a little flawed, the best record of timed quests I have found has been here:

Wow that list... lol.

Yeah I figured that with the gems. I could probably make some good money off of them early on here though, might do that to clear up some space and all.

I completely forget about trading. Been going back to some Heart-To-Hearts though so I might head back to Colony 9 just to mess around and see if I can build up the affinity more. Is it just Collectibles that NPC's want?

Just noticed that list actually doesn't show every quest for some reason. There are almost double the number shown. I guess you have to hit the "Area" drop menu to see the others. It doesn't even show Alacamoth, and almost every quest there is timed.

I don't think trading affects affinity. Only quests and talking to people affect that stat. Talk to every named NPC *twice* every once and a while (especially after you do quests in the area). I just usually chat with those I pass by, though I do seek out some after I've done quests related to them.

I haven't done much trading to be honest. When I have I used collectibles. It's more there for when you screw up and get locked out of an area without getting all the items you need for quests. This cannot save you entirely though, so I'd just pay a lot of attention to getting items you see in visions anywhere after Valek Mountain. It can also be used as an easier way to get rarely dropped items.

...Were people seriously bitching about how long this game took to localize? That quest list is massive.

People were moaning about the NTSC localization because the PAL localization was already complete.

I beat the game with the topless armor. The armor was kind "something oil". I am guessing they applied the oil on their bodies and it protected them  . It was ridiculous as hell. Shulk looked kind of badass, but Sharla......oh dear (her white-purple polka bra broke the mood during the dramatic cut scenes).

At least they revert to their default clothes (the ones you met them in) during the end credits :P

I thought people were moaning because NOA said there were no plans to localize the game.

Yeah. It was already translated into English from the PAL release, so people were upset that they wouldn't just bring it over.

Ordered this last night on a whim, looking forward to it but I need to finish of Wind Waker and Pier Solar before I start on this.

My question is, what are the remote and nunchuck controls like? I now the Classic controller is the way to go, but does the game handle ok with remote? What are the buttons mapped to?

I have no idea why anyone would prefer one control over the other. Nunchuck works great.
