Re: Gaming Confession Booth
I couldn't get into Cave Story.
Had to get that out there. lol. The Metroidvania style is one of my top favorites, but I tried playing Cave Story twice over the years... more recently I got an hour or two in the newer + edition or whatever when it was up for the Humble Bundle, but yeah. Didn't really grab me.
I might be alone on this one.

Its OK I am the same way. Even though I own a lot of them, I am actually NOT a big fan of Final fantasy and Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite games of all time.....scarper wrote:I never got into the Final Fantasy series. I tried. I really did. I just dont like it.

I'm starting to enjoy the cutscenes in Spider-Man games.
Re: Gaming Confession Booth
I consider Cave Story to be the bare minimum of a Metroidvania. It doesn't feel like one at all.Xeogred wrote:I couldn't get into Cave Story.

My other confession:
I am laughably horrible at fighting games. Including Super Smash Bros.
For some reason, I am never able to get timing and priority right, ever. I read all the guides, talk to people who are good at it, but I still suck ass. Never won a single online match of Street Fighter IV (except once, against a guy who literally did nothing but spam one of Zangeifs combos over and over again.)
I once spent a few hours trying to get good at Astra Superstars. Then a friend of mine (who does not play fighters) came over and played a few matches with me. I lost all of them.
I really want to like fighting games, but I've never gotten past the medium difficulty threshold.

Re: Gaming Confession Booth
I actually find Super Mario 64 over rated (not its influence though, just game in general).

Re: Gaming Confession Booth
If you played it when it came out, you'd see how good it is. If you've played lots of other 3D platformers its release, of course one of the pioneers may not hold up as good today.KDub wrote:I actually find Super Mario 64 over rated (not its influence though, just game in general).
It's like someone who grew up playing the PS1 Final Fantasy series going back to try the NES version.

I don't get fighting games either. You just memorize a bunch of moves. Then you fight the same few characters in the same few arenas over and over.scarper wrote:My other confession:
