Just missing the blue one and I'll be done with this system color collection. Since I only collect NTSC systems I made an exception since the Micro is region free and only a few colors were released worldwide.
At E3, I really had no interest in the system untill I saw the "wall of faceplates". Wish I still had those pics because there were some pretty cool looking Nintendo themed ones. But once the price dropped to under $50 I couldn't resist any more. And not till I started running consolecolors.com the rest, as you can see, was history.
I've bought over 10, but only have 3 left. It's my favorite portable console because of the wide selection of good 2D games (esp. with a flashcart and emulators), and the easily pocketable size. It's still impressive how much fun Nintendo crammed into that small a package.
When I was balls deep in GBA, I had two micros, black and silver. They were by far the most portable system ever, but the screen was so damn small. Also, I played quite a bit out in direct sunlight, and the screen was very difficult to see. The speaker on it is barely audible and the headphone output is laden with squeals and noise.
I eventually switched to just playing on my original DS, which was more comfortable and easy to see in the sunlight. Also the headphone output on the original DS is free of noise and speaker output second only to the GBASP in terms of loudness. The DS is absolutely huge in size, though.

I loved the micro when I first got it. But then I realized a few things. The Sp is the better system because it protects the screen. The small size of the micro lead to big time cramps in my hand after playing for awhile. Also, They quickly stopped making the face plates and they are almost impossible to find. Hate that lack of support and still need a faceplate.
The sound was a little off. as others have noted but I found the earphones okay.
Someone also mentioned how hard is was to see in the sun but I never had that problem. There is a way to increase the screen brightness so that wasn't a problem. I think you hold down the left shoulder button and then use the volume control to increase brightness.
So bottom line is this system is cool in a bunch of ways but had some shortcomings that made it my second favorite portable Nintendo, after the Sp. RIP Gunpei. Your game and watch came a long way, baby.

The famicom edition is also made out of higher quality materials than the standard editions . I like the feel of it.
Anyone have any experience opening one of these? I bought one a while back at a thrift store and the B-button is sticky because someone spilled some pop on it or something. I'd like to know if its even worth finding a microscopic tri-wing screwdriver or if I'll just break it.
