Not the TV show, the Japanese movie from the '70s. This was an uncommonly good movie. There's not really anything I can think of to criticize, other than that the special effects are dated. And even that's not really a problem, as they only add to the movie's character. Bizarre, funny, artistic, and cool. Highly recommended.

Wow, totally disagree on this. I thought Lock Out was one of the best action movies I've seen in awhile. Oh well, to each his own.Hobie-wan wrote:Lock Out was not so good. Guy Pearce was awesome as a lovable asshole with some great one liners. Unfortunately everything else left a lot to be desired.

Well, to be fair to the both of ya Hobie didn't clarify what "everything else" was, and Tony didn't clarify why LOCKOUT was "one of the best".Stark wrote:Wow, totally disagree on this. I loved the trailer for the one liners, liked the movie for its camp humor, but thought it could have used more over the top action. A few members on this forum aside, I bet dollars to donuts what each member would or wouldn't like, but sometimes members like Hobie and Dish send me for a loop.
I'm guessing that Hobie and I had the same expectations of LOCKOUT: Corny jokes, Loose Cannon Hero, Non stop over the top action. Two out of Three ain't bad, but I was expecting Robocop but got Supercop instead (not that Supercop is bad, but that kid playing a gameboy without a game in it, yeesh).
As "actiony" and mindless LOCKOUT is, it drags at times (hello second act) when it should keep a decent pace the entire time.

Fair enough. I guess I forgot I haven't put a review (or thoughts) in here. To me, it was basically Die Hard in SPACE (saying SPACE should have that echo-y quality btw, natch). I loved the one-liner protaganist from Guy Pearce and the action. I liked that they spent time with the bad guy and developed their personality and 'evilness' if you will. And the action was fun and I thought it was fairly non-stop. I hope they make a sequel with this character, but that probably won't happen.Luke wrote: Well, to be fair to the both of ya Hobie didn't clarify what "everything else" was, and Tony didn't clarify why LOCKOUT was "one of the best".

This "character" has been around for decades. He's not going anywhere.Stark wrote: I hope they make a sequel with this character, but that probably won't happen.

I watched the Cinemassacre review of that a couple weeks ago. Looks pretty interesting!BoringSupreez wrote:House

The plot had some dumb holes in it. I've already forgotten some of them as it's been a few weeks, but I felt let down. Some of them weren't just 'turn your brain off and enjoy' ones for me.Luke wrote:Well, to be fair to the both of ya Hobie didn't clarify what "everything else" was, and Tony didn't clarify why LOCKOUT was "one of the best".Stark wrote:Wow, totally disagree on this. That was all fine. Aside from the plot problems I didn't like the president's daughter either. I was all excited about the movie from the initial interrogation scene and the trailer, then meh after seeing it. One of my friends that I dragged along really hated it and we'd seen Cabin in the woods right before it. That didn't help either.I loved the trailer for the one liners...

Take the same friend to see Raid: The Redemption, and he'll owe you one.
