i guess i have to specify i use the analogue stick not a dpad on my oxbox controller it just makes making half circles quarter circles a breeze, i dont understand why its blasphemy to use an analogue stick in fighters its so much easier.

I have played many fighting games in PS2, 2D and 3D, and I found the PS2 controller (mainly the Logitech wireless one) to be the best controller for fighting games on PS2 IMO. It has 2 additional buttons for fighting games, allowing players to perform medium punch and kick. In addition, the Logitech wireless PS2 controller's D-pad is fighting game-friendly enough to perfectly execute Hadoken or Shoryuken-type movements.
Ah fair enough, I thought you meant the official PS2 controller, which IMO has a poor d-pad for fighters.

Its not blashpemy -whatever you find easier, personally I can't really play 2D fighters with an anologue stick, 3D fighters I'm generally ok with though.

Yeah, they're just tools. None inherently better or worse than another.

Protip: Never think less of a player for the controller they use. I've done it before, and the result usually is pretty damn embarrassing.

QanBa Q4 RAF is pretty awesome and what I use. :) Compatible with PS3, PC, and Xbox 360.

But it really doesn't, it just depends what fighters you're talking about. I've played a lot of MKII (via Shaolin Monks) on the PS2, and even more MKII on the PS3. I love the official Playstation controllers for Mortal Kombat. MK games have a lot of "back, back, down, forward" type input commands. Do you realize how hard it is to input something like that on a Genesis or Saturn D-Pad? That and the button layout is why the SNES controller was perfect for MK games and the Genesis controller was perfect for SF games.

And because of a lack of a better controller, I've been using a PS3 controller to play SF4 with. I was on a quest to find a better controller or adapter to use, but I haven't gotten anything yet. I don't find the PS3 D-Pad annoying at all to use. I can pull off Ryu's moves easily. I'd rather have the 3x3 button layout though.

PlayStation controllers have a great d-pad for fighters that use mainly up, down, left, right for directional inputs. Not so much with the ones that use semi-circle motions.

Can't say that I recall playing MK on a PS, but what are saying makes sense to me. I've always been more of a SF fan and its def more difficult on a PS pad than a more conventional one.

I've always been a bit jealous of people that can use a stick, pdad or analog stick regardless. I can't play on anything other than a stick at any kind of decent skill level. It would make the genre a whole lot cheaper if I could just pick up any old pad and play well.

On a side note - hopefully Fighters Megamix will be waiting for me when I get home. This thread isn't helping me concentrate on work lol

I love the Saturn pad, but I prefer the d-pad on the Genesis 6-button.

However, I can play basically anything with the PlayStation pad and feel comfortable at this point, even half-circle heavy fighters. I've been playing games with a DualShock controller for nearly 15 years.

Id imagine it be easier to play as guile and other chars that you have to hold back then forward+ input with a playstation dpad, i never could play as guile ehonda and mbison.
