...this is the first time I've ever seen that term and I already hate it with a passion.

Spork. Smog. Vlog. (Not saying I like all portmanteaus, but they aren't unacceptable in all cases.)

Also, cf. Wikipedia: "The indigenous peoples of the Americas are the pre-Columbian inhabitants of North and South America and their descendants. Pueblos indígenas (indigenous peoples) is a common term in Spanish-speaking countries. Aborígen (aboriginal/native) is used in Argentina, while "Amerindian" is used in Guyana, but not commonly used in other countries. I don't know anybody who has a problem with it, and it doesn't make a difference to me. As far as I can see, if they change it they just need to make their mascot less of a caricature and take a more realistic look.


A couple of Mexican friends of mine always jokes that the current mascot looks like the stereotypical Mexican without a moustache and a feather instead of a sombrero.
