he's playing on a tough difficulty with a more obscure class and specialized techniques and has been complaining that the game is too hard and that it isn't as easy to use the specialized techniques as it was in previous games. Instead of learning how to best approach ME3, he's trying to shoehorn an old approach into a new entry and then getting upset when it is "unfair".

Gamerforlife I respect your thoughts on the game and on this entry, even, but it seems that you dug your own grave. Stop blaming the game for making things "too tough" when the "problem" seems to be that A) not any and all strategies will work B) specifically the ones you've wanted to use won't work. Admit you made some poor choices in character/party planning and combat strategizing and either fix the problems or dial down the difficulty. The last 1/2 of the game was excellent (except for the final scene) and I'd suggest it is worth playing those 10-15 hours even if the last 10-15 minutes kinda sucks.

Not to jump on the bandwagon here, but Gamerforlife you can turn the difficulty down in the game.

I agree, keep on playing it, as a favor for another mass effect fan. You will not be disappointed in the story.

Play how you would if it was real. Also spend all your points on to fill up charm or intimade skills as soon as possible depending on if you are paragon or renegade. There is a certain teammate that is very important to the game that you can't save if charm is not high enough. Also do not do the virmire mission to soon, as that is the mission the team mate you need to save is on(Wrex). Mass Effect 1 might take a bit to get going but just be patient. Also welcome, the Mass Effect series is awesome, might take over all your free time. Also take your time and do not rush through any of the games. There are so many hidden items, talk to people. Also spend money on upgrades for your and your team members(weapons, armor), it is worth it. Have fun.

Part of my frustration is that I don't feel the game makes the differences from previous installments to this one clear. For example, I didn't even think of trying to hack those Geth Primes with Tali because of their shields. You couldn't do that in Mass Effect 2, but apparently you can hack right through shields in this installment, which I ended up doing as ATARI800XLfan kind of convinced me to keep playing.

Mass Effect 3 isn't "too tough" in the sense that I can't handle Insanity mode. I can get past whatever the game throws at me, but I just am not enjoying doing it. For example, I know that you can deal with grenade spam by moving out of cover, but the fact that I even have to keep doing that just irritates me. ME 3's combat just isn't clicking with me. By contrast, I had a lot of fun with ME 2's Insanity mode. At the end of the day it just comes down to Bioware changing the gameplay in ways that I don't like. I don't know that playing on a different difficulty setting would change that. In fact, even if I tried to play as a Sentinel (like I did in ME 2), the changes they have made to that class wouldn't make it as much fun for me to play. ME 3 just doesn't play like ME 2, in a lot of ways, and I guess I just don't like that. Nothing is really going to change that, but there's no point in me continuing to complain about it, so I'm going to try and make less posts and just focus the ones that I do make solely on the story.

Also, party planning is irrelevant to me. I take whatever characters are best for the story. Frankly, I feel like I'm just missing out otherwise. Liara may be useful on every mission, but you miss out on a LOT of great dialog that other characters bring to certain missions.

Ok, that is all very fair - you don't like the way that they changed combat, and that is certainly a valid reason to dislike that component of the game. That's very different than saying it is broken, tough, or cheap though...it's just that it isn't what you had hoped to find.

I personally found the combat to pretty much the same as ME2...though if anything it was a bit easier for me since I often took Liara on missions and it was even easier to spam biotics and get out of pretty much any situation than it was in ME2.

I found as a soldier the combat was effectively unchanged. It was changed pretty hardcore between ME1 and ME2 for the soldier; an actual cover system and a massive nerf to adrenaline rush. Used to be I could pop adren rush and destroy the entire room while under its effects. Now it's really only useful for nailing several people with a rapid fire sniper rifle without having to worry about the return fire spoiling my aim, but I still have to hope I started off with a good position to nail several enemies without moving.

Only change that irked me, was that Overload in this one is used for BOTH shields and barriers. Warp is now just a normal damage dealing biotic kind of like Incinerate. I didn't realize Warp was doing just about jack crap to barriers until I was at the very end pretty much (though on normal I guess it wasn't a huge deal, but it was funny to finally realize it at that point lol).

I beat ME2 on Insanity and always had Miranda around, so I was just so used to using Warp on barriers, since that game had them everywhere (as opposed to ME3 favoring shield's again).

any one else notice that on multiplayer the chance system for items sucks? Decide to play online this weekend as the new resurgence pack come out with new packs that were supposed to give you the new characters but the packs ended today. Played it almost none stop from friday to today trying to get the class I wanted(Krogan Battlemaster Vanguard) and never got it. Why did they do it that way. The chance system with items did not even work for Star Wars online, and that is a MMO.
