Did anyone play Dragon Age by chance? That's probably the closest comparison for me, are they similar at all?

Eh, I guess. Xenoblade actually has unique art design and everything else though.

I was speaking in terms of combat.

I just had to throw in my disgust for DA there, lol. This game is a lot faster paced I'd say combat wise.

About 7 hours in, a bit after the first caves part and some major scenes. Wow, this game doesn't mess around.

I really enjoyed DA... I can understand it not being for you, but disgust?

The mecha design on that face was awesome right?

I just mentioned it in the artbook thread, haha but yeah I think the only thing art wise I like better in the other Xeno games are the mech designs. That said they're still very cool here.

It feels like the awesomeness of this game is still sinking in, lmao. I thought Skyward Sword's OST was amazing, but this is just on a whole new level and the world/art direction is mindblowing.

Alright, the quests in the game are a little ridiculous, lol. I figure you can just pick them up along the way and if it happens, it happens (randomly complete them as you go). The game is so complicated and I have a feeling some of the crazy details in the game mechanics you don't even really have to worry about, like I could imagine some people not catching or forgetting half of this stuff and still get by the whole thing pretty fine.

The items in the menu's could use a little organization too. With so many menu's I wish you could have the cursor saved instead of set, like some old JRPG's.

All this said, I'm completely in love regardless. About 8 hours in now at the Gaur Plain.

You probably already realized this, but some quests are only available for a limited time. The people of the Gaur Plains give such quests.
After certain events Juju will be in the refugee camp. After you complete a certain quest he will ask you if you're ready to have the people move back to Colony 6, or if you still have some things you'd like to do. If you choose to move people back most of the refugee quests will become unavailable.
There is also a "surprise" quest in the Gaur plains where you need to save a woman from some wolves near some water. I think it was towards the beginning of the area.

I just found out you can give gifts to other party members through the item menu to raise affinity. Crazy. Almost 40 hours in and there is still so much I do not know.

I don't know if I've seen it in my actual quest log yet, but yeah I saw the tutorial that talked about some quests potentially becoming unavailable if you advance the story too much, but they'd be marked with an exclamation point or something in the menu?
