JVC X'Eye won't spin discs
JVC X'Eye won't spin discs
I opened it up and the gears try to work but looks like they are seized up. Any ideas?

Try regreasing the CD mech and see if you can get it free.

I noticed that the laser eye moves freely, but the disc won't actually spin at all. Is it possible I need to replace the motor that turns the CD? If so, where would I purchase something like that.

Re: JVC X'Eye won't spin discs
Ah, sounds like a bad spindle motor then. Also what power supply are you using with it? If you're using a Genesis 2 power supply it won't provide enough amperage for the entire system.Rawkmann wrote:I noticed that the laser eye moves freely, but the disc won't actually spin at all. Re: JVC X'Eye won't spin discs
I will look into getting an AC with the appropriate voltage. I was using a Genesis 2 AC just to test. Would it not have enough power to spin the CD?

Re: JVC X'Eye won't spin discs
You need to use a power supply that provides at least 1.5 amps, the Genesis 2 power supply only outputs 850 mA so it's not enough to power the CD drive. Make sure it's 9V and tip positive as well.Rawkmann wrote:I will look into getting an AC with the appropriate voltage. I was using a Genesis 2 AC just to test.
