What are the best sites to buy comic books new and used?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What are the best sites to buy comic books new and used?

Post by Opa Opa »

I was never really into comic books as a kid but I've grown to appreciate not only the artwork and story lines, but also the variety in content. I also love how affordable they are to collect compared to my gaming hobby.

Anyway, I'm looking for sites that deal in comic books; both new and used.
Does anyone have any personal recommendations? I know there's ebay but I'm not really feeling the ebay-premium pricing right now.

milehighcomics.com

It's been almost a decade since I last ordered from them, so things could have changed. But they offered free fedex shipping once you reach a certain price point (it was $50 back then. Bear in mind that I live overseas, so fedex shipping is not cheap especially for large boxes)

Their prices are also decent, if you're not looking for rares and collectibles or CGC graded stuff. They price according to stock availability for back issues (instead of how much collectors think an issue should go for), so if you're looking for just random issues to fill out your collection, you can just choose from issues that have large stocks.

mycomicshop.com

Back issues tend to be very affordable and the selection can't be beat IMO. I've ordered from Mile High Comics before but now I'm a much bigger fan of mycomicshop.com.

My personal favorite is mycomicshop.com largely because you can get a credit on items you don't want anymore plus free shipping at $50 or more. They have a great selection of comics, TPB's, and HC's and the site is very easy to use with a bunch of useful information.

The other site I've been checking out lately is www.comiccollectorlive.com where people have stores and special deals apply at each store. It's a bit confusing but well worth checking out.

Finally if you're wanting to swap HC's, TPB's or even single issues http://www.sequentialswap.com is a great site. I've been on it for years with no issues.

That is funny... and if you ever get bit by the binding bug watch out. I've got it bad and there doesn't seem to be a cure for it.

This site, by far is the best, better than MileHighComics, better than eBay, better than MyComicShop. You have multiple sellers selling multiple copies at different prices and grades. It's a competitive market. I've sworn by it for years for my comic buying needs:

Go to your LCS (local comic shop) and support local business. Set up a folder, get to know the regulars, and you'll make some friends at the same time.

Comics aren't meant to be mailed. They are meant to be purchased bagged and boarded, not stuck in an envelope. But I'm like Brodie when it comes to my comics; I respect them and will slap my best friend across his face if he reads one of my books and doesn't cradle the spine.

Seriously, check out your local shop:

I actually have a local shop. Well, if you call an hours driving time "local". I can't make it down there too often but I go every chance I get.
