computer died

Post by SpaceBooger »

I have an HP pavilion m9350f and it froze this morning. I restarted it and it won't even load to the bios. Blank screen. I checked all connections and everything is receiving power... Any ideas?

How do you know that everything is receiving power?

Does it POST? Do you hear a 'beep'? If so, tell me how many times it beeps and length.

No sound. No anything. I thought it an hd issue, but unplugging that doesn't help.

Sounds like mobo, CPU, or RAM. For the RAM it would have to be all of the RAM for it to not be beeping. If you only have one stick of RAM that makes it more likely as a suspect.

RAM gets checked during the POST; you should be getting a beep if there's a problem with the RAM.

Even though its suppose to beep for RAM issue, i would still reset it. Also just try to dust out whatever you can. Try turning it on a few times to getting it into safe mode.

You may be right on that, I thought i'd seen an issue where it didn't POST with bad RAM. I think most likely it is the mobo or CPU.

Do you think that the Power Supply could be going out and is not giving out consistent power?
