You think after 6 semesters of Deutsch I would be fluent, by I can barely hold a conversation in German. Something I should remedy.
Wouldn't it be "Fatherland"? Or Vaterland if you prefer. Much to learn! :P

On the Guinness Black commercial the fine print reads "Guinness America, Connecticut". Now I have to go by the grocery store and find out where in the world this stuff is brewed.

My friend looked at his bottles and it says that it's brewed at St. James Gate Dublin.

Hopefully Guinness America is just the distributor.

If you look at Guinness website FAQ, it says that their beer is sold in over 100 countries and brewed in 50. That said,
Is it true that you get a much better pint of GUINNESS® stout in Ireland?
GUINNESS® is GUINNESS® - wherever you are. We always use pure, fresh water from natural local sources for the GUINNESS® stout brewed outside Ireland. That said, in blind tests (with a bunch of highly cynical journalists) none of our sample could tell the difference between Irish-brewed GUINNESS® and the locally produced variety. All the GUINNESS® sold in the UK, Ireland and North America is brewed in Ireland at the historic St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin.
I think that should settle it once and for all.

That is hilarious!

I know they are trying to keep a certain image, but brewing in 50 countries and stating Guinness only comes from Ireland is a little silly. The stout I had on St.Patty's day bottle's stated "brewed in Canada".

We should get Skully and Mulder on this, I smell a Beer Conspiracy.
