I replayed ME2 to get the perfect save file and it seems like I did it all for nothing. ME3 is just not going my way.
Re: Less then 66 days until Mass Effect 3 comes out, cant' w
I liked it way more than ME2 for the most part.
The ending... is truly something else though. Has anyone here beat it? I cannot pinpoint my emotions on it, it could either be:
- The shittiest ending I've ever seen, period.
- The most brilliant thing ever, if it follows some theories.
- The entire world just got trolled and is over-analyzing it to the bone.

I personally liked the ending. I think the main reason people are upset is that it isn't nearly the ending they would have written.Xeogred wrote:I liked it way more than ME2 for the most part.

It probably is what it is, but I think that theory could be amazing.

Re: Mass Effect 3
I was just checking out some of the reviews of it on Metacritic and wow, the userscore is super low compared to the previous two installments. 4.9 on 360, 3.6 on PS3, and 3.7 on PC. The first game's userscores are 8.7 and 8.4. ME2 userscores are 8.9, 8.6, and 8.1. So that is a HUGE difference.

The reason Most people do not like the ending is that none of your choices mattered. After spending $180 and spending 150 hours and 5 years of having to make hard emotional choices about ethics and morals the end basically says, Fuck you and gives you the bird all of your hard work and choices do not mean shit. The ending comes out of left field and does not connect with any previous choices in any way at all. That is why the large majority of fans are pissed off about, not that it has had sad ending, that none of the work over the last 5 years mattered. You get stuck with 3 ending's that the only difference is the color of the laser, not even a prologue to see how your choices played out afterwords.MrPopo wrote:I personally liked the ending. None of your choices mattered in the first two games when you look at the broad narrative. Your choices mattered for your small personal space, like who you saved, but all the events are the same and the overall situation is the same. The ending of ME3 was always going to be "the Reapers stop killing everyone". The choice you get at the end is deciding why the reapers stop killing everyone.ATARI800XLfan wrote:The reason Most people do not like the ending is that none of your choices mattered. not even a prologue though. It would be nice to see how saving the krogan and geth played out. Those seem like big choices. And questions, what about the fleets now stuck in the sol system, like the turrians, when mass relays blow up don't they destroy the system they are in? Like in the Mass Effect 2 DLC, if so then did shepard just destroy more then the reapers? Choices did matter when added up. At least I am not the only one upset about the ending, 30 thousand plus like on Facebook for a better ending, Bioware forum poll with 60 thousand votes, 90 percent hate endings.
Re: Less then 66 days until Mass Effect 3 comes out, cant' w
They are big choices that don't matter in the context of the narrative. They are just numbers on your war readiness board, as the consequences of those choices are long term consequences. Do the Krogan hit the war path again? How does the Quarian Geth integration play out? You could put in a quick "100 years later" scene that shows a little bit of this, or you can save it for later. Maybe the next game in the ME universe is set many generations later in a galaxy that is rebuilding from the loss of the mass relays.ATARI800XLfan wrote:not even a prologue though. But again, your choices don't really matter in the grand scheme of things for the scope of the narrative. You fight the reapers with a fleet of strength X. The composition of that fleet doesn't matter one bit from the perspective of the narrative.

I'm hoping there will be a ton of DLC related to the things people thought they were paying for.
