International politics is all about hypocracy.Zing wrote:So Israel openly refuses to allow any inspections. Kind of hypocritical that Israel is demanding Iran allow inspections and threatening war if they don't.

TBH, I'm a lot more comfortable with Israel having nukes and whatnot than Iran. The Israeli leadership has no desire to bring on the end of the world.MrPopo wrote:International politics is all about hypocracy.Zing wrote:So Israel openly refuses to allow any inspections. Your ability to 'bring about the end of the world' is negated by having nukes. Nuclear deterrence is why I do not lose any sleep over Iran nuclear or non-nuclear status.
The real damage Iran can do to us all is to strangle or saturate the global oil markets. They can do far more damage in that manner than they ever could with atomics.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I thought we got approximately 3% of our oil from Iran, is that not true?Flake wrote:Your ability to 'bring about the end of the world' is negated by having nukes. Nuclear deterrence is why I do not lose any sleep over Iran nuclear or non-nuclear status.

Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

I'm not sure if that's true but I know Russia and China both by oil from Iran. If Iran were to stop selling oil to them chances are that Russia and China would start buying from somewhere we by oil and cause the prices to drastically rise pretty much immediately in a word we'd be pretty fucked pretty fast.Stark wrote:I thought we got approximately 3% of our oil from Iran, is that not true?Flake wrote:Your ability to 'bring about the end of the world' is negated by having nukes. Currently, the US is set up to be an exporter of crude oil. What we do import comes almost exclusively from Canada. However, as oil is a global product, the price of supplies from and to other regions is still relevant. Hence, our interest in the Middle East when, by all rights, we really would not give a crap.
If you would like an example on why the US, despite being largely independent of Middle Eastern oil, cares so much about Iran, Kuwait, Iraq, etc, take a look at the energy crisis of the 70's and how it changed the US economy forever.
