Question: Why isn't JT a mod? He contributes great, insightful posts and thoughtful topics to the forum, is a long time member, and is nearing that fabled 8000 posts

Yeah, JT may be next in the lineup. How about CRT? Is he a mod yet?alienjesus wrote:Question: Why isn't JT a mod? He contributes great, insightful posts and thoughtful topics to the forum, is a long time member, and is nearing that fabled 8000 posts

The only thing in this thread that is poorer form than suggesting yourself as a mod is subtly criticizing or questioning the choices made.
There's obviously a dozen or so members who, based on what folks see them contribute to the forum, could potentially qualify as a mod for one reason or another. That said, I think it's fair to assume that every existing mod team this site has ever had has always taken a lot of things into consideration when extending offers to new folks...

I'm curious why some people are so eager to be a mod?
Is it the power trip? The ability to have secret discussions?
It's a lot of work to monitor threads, move things to the right place, send warnings to people, etc. As a mod, you sometimes feel obligated to always be on the forums and not really have any time off.

That's what I was wondering too. I would never want to be a mod here or any other place. Too stressful. And I'd be terrible at it haha.gtmtnbiker wrote:I'm curious why some people are so eager to be a mod?

I don't really want to be a mod. I used to moderate a forum for the rave scene back in the early part of the last decade, and it was a huge pain to always have people pulling me into their arguments. There isn't anywhere near as much drama here as there was on a rave forum, and I likely would have accepted being a mod if I was asked because I care about our forums, but I still am not terribly fond of doing moderator work. I appreciate what our mods do and they apparently do it quite well because we have a high quality forum.alienjesus wrote:Question: Why isn't JT a mod? Thanks for suggesting I should be a mod though, as it is something of an honorary position. Flake, mjmjr25, and retrosportsgamer are all deserving too, and I'm sure they will do a fine job.

Fair enough, I just wondered as I definitely consider you to have started some of the most interesting posts on the forum..
And Dsheinem, I have no issues with those selected to be mods, I think they're all great choices. I was more wondering if JT should have been a mod in addition to those mentioned rather than instead of them. I hope it didn't come across the wrong way, and I'm sure there was a lot of consideration put into the choices.
