I don't do social website/fake friend list/OMG I'm sooo drunk post nonsense. I do a large number of the IM services though for anyone that can't get enough of my rambling.

I've got a Facebook account, which constitutes my entire social media presence. I'm surprised at the number of people in this thread with Myspace accounts; I thought the place was dead.

Re: Post Your Twitter/Myspace/Facebook/etc
I believe I have 20 FB friends; a sliver of my actual friends. I have no qualms of being the "nope. not going to friend you" guy, even with people who are dear friends. All it takes is one "remember the time...." posts from someone and the entire world knows.
I recently mentioned running into and having brews and chews with an old friend/fling. The very first thing she said after "Luke!" was, "why aren't we friends on facebook?". My answer was probably some mumbling stating "well you see with my job and reputation in e-commerce I can't afford to have my rep soiled...blah blah blah".
Think facebook is awesome to find old friends and chat, but if I'm going to speak with people who I have never met, I'm coming here.
Plus, FB is really shady with their privacy policies.

I don't do any of this shit. At least not anymore. Maybe I'm becoming more paranoid in my old(er) age, but I now find it best to remain completely anonymous on the internet.
I have Facebook... but only to appease my wife (she likes to have my name linked to her marital status). Otherwise I would delete it in a heartbeat. I liked it back in 2005 or so (when I was in college and so was everyone else on the site). These days I just find it boring and shitty. If anyone really wants to know my account name, just PM me. I only log on about once every 6 weeks.
I had Livejournal for 12 years but deleted my account a couple of months ago. Most of my "friends" had long abandoned the site and the communities had taken a turn for the worse.
I don't even understand Twitter. Everything I read there sounds like it was written in a foreign language.
The only sites I post on these days are Racketboy (duh) and a track & field forum that doesn't require registration and is filled with trolls and sockpuppets.

You aren't anonymous. Not at all.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I don't do any of this shit. At least not anymore. Maybe I'm becoming more paranoid in my old(er) age, but I now find it best to remain completely anonymous on the internet.
Your actual name, your home address, your IP address, credit history, all of your passwords (probably down to your atm pin code) and email accounts are all accessible.
There is no actual anonymity on the Internet, unless you are a super genius who drops off laptops like Tony Soprano drops guns with the serial number filed off. You registered an account here, correct? Your private info is now public, no different from Facebook.
