Apparently Google's planning to change their privacy policy in a way that allows them to keep tabs on you in a rather extreme way. If you don't like this, you have a few days to delete your browsing history before the changes happen. Procedures for how to do this are explained in the article linked below.

Ew, that's unpleasant...
I followed the instructions in the link, but the page I saw asked me if I wanted to turn on web history to improve search results. Apparently it was never activated for me? Dunno.
Either way, I still made it a point to click no.
This is an obnoxious development though.

I've never had it on either and I'm an extensive Google user; Chrome, Gmail, Google+, Youtube.
To me the real problem isn't that they are unifying everything and knowing your full internet history that is linked to all of your google accounts and what you do within, the problem is you can't opt out after the new policy kicks in.

So if you don't have a google account then it doesn't really matter? Or am I wrong? I don't google anything particularly incriminating or embarrassing so I can't say I'm too worried about it. I mean, the government already lives inside of my head, how much worse can it get?

Eh, this falls under "I don't really care." Target already does stuff like this and can now detect that you're pregnant and project the expected date within two weeks.

Remember when the internet didn't suck? Megaupload gone. Google not caring about your privacy. Facebook ruling everything. Youtube being full of ads. I could go on and on

This is getting out of control but since the politicians we have are completely ignorant about anything remotedly relating to the internet it's to be expected.
I'm thinking about deleting my newly created google account. Any ideas to where to go?

^this method says it will "pause" the data collection. Does that mean it is basically a way to "opt out" manually?J T wrote:Apparently Google's planning to change their privacy policy in a way that allows them to keep tabs on you in a rather extreme way.
