Just bought Nintendo NES Flinstones Surpise at Dinosaur peak

Post by Armymanis »

Hey guys! I just bought Flinstones surprise at Dinosaur peak yesterday. Now my question is, I know its a collectors item as I am a collector. Will it hurt the value of this gem if I play it a little bit in order to show gameplay to youtubers? I was going to do level walkthrough's so people can see the whole game in its entirety. I wanted to start making a youtube channel concerning collecting rare games, and doing walkthrough's on the rare games as well as tips and tricks.

unless it's like, a sealed boxed copy or something that you'd have to open in order to play, I don't see how merely playing it will devalue it in any way whatsoever.

Yes play it!

I know of people who own the NWC cart ($10k+) and do a run just to make sure it works properly and then play a backup/Repro or something so no further damage can happen to the cart.

Like was mentioned before,if its not sealed why not.The value should retain as long as you take care of it.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

just be careful not to scratch the pins when you insert it to your NES. also make sure your NES is clean internally so you don't get dust on it either... just saying. :P

I think you're pretty safe. Very minute connector wear will occur each time you plug it into the system, but both NES revisions are very gentle on the cart housing itself.

Nice find. How much did you pay for it? As I recall, it was a BlockBuster rental exclusive wasn't it? i've played it on my Powerpak, and I dunno.....its really a mediocre NES platformer. Other than its rarity, it doesn't seem like it's got much going for it. I say pop that into your NES and get what little enjoyment you can out of it. I'm assuming you paid a handsome sum for it, so you'd be cheating yourself by not at least playing it.

Idk why I thought it was the other way around where The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy was the rare cart and Surprise at Dinosaur Peak was the easy find? I have to check my NES collection to see which one I have now. I know I got my copy at Gamestop like 11yrs ago when they were still selling retro games. The good ol' days!
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!
