Build this place quick, because I so want to be there.

I can't think of anything clever, but the phrase "Quarters & Quaffs" sounds nice. Actually, it sounds like a barcade on Diagon Alley.

No DDR.
But you would have Pump it Up,yes? :D

I don't know what that is but if it's not played with sticks, guns, steering wheels, aircraft controls or electronic skateboards/skis - it ain't allowed in the Cedar Parkade.

Absolutely no dance games.

Wait, I got it. "Pixelixir."

Hmm. It's a portmanteau that sounds better than it looks, unfortunately.

But obviously all drinks would be named after in-game items, as in, "I'll have a Master Emerald, and my friend wants a P-Wing."

For some reason, "The Glitch 'N Gulp" came to my head. Part of me likes it, the other part of me thinks it sounds too old fashioned.

Personally, as much as I'd like to have dance arcades, it's hard to justify it.

Even if you get a dance machine, unless it's one of those S-tier games (DDR Extreme, SuperNova, and 5th Mix come to mind), no one will play it. And if it IS one of those S-tier games, it's going to cost you SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS to get! It's ridiculous how much those machines will go for even in poor condition!

And then, even if you get one of those machines, there's always the chance that it's just not the local flavor. In which case it'll sit there, unused, forever. We have a local arcade that has some no-name dance game - I can tell it cost them a load of money, yet I have NEVER seen anybody step up to it.

Just the way it is. Way too much money up front for way too big of a risk.

Actually dance games are probably the safest investment you can have in an arcade.

The price will be around 12K$ for DDR X3 vs 2nd Mix and around 7K$ for Pump it Up Fiesta EX, which looks like much but isn't given the amount of money they can make and the huge prices other machines have (Compare the prices to Time Crisis IV or any racing game, which will see less play). A dance machine will attract groups that will play one day of a weekend non-stop from 5PM to around 9 or 10PM while getting a lot of random passer-bys.

It's also very easy to get hardcore players in, just post in their forums and organize a tournament. Given how mistreated they often are, having access to a clean machine with decent sound is a sure hit. If it's not the local thing, it's because there's no competition and just caring a bit while create the community around you.

If the game is outdated or not the holy trio of DDR, PIU and ITG you won't see a buck.
