Other Game Communities

Post by IMJ »

What other game communities do you guys belong to? This is the only one I post on, but we are very Sega-centric here. Are there any places that you guys know of that focus on collecting game stuff on sort of a holistic level? Meaning, guys that'll be just as happy landing a set of vintage Zelda or Mega Man toys as they would landing a functioning Dreamcast?

The only other 2 "communities" i belong too are IGN and Steam but those arent all that retro oriented (actually not at all).

I'd say that this site is pretty Sega based, but I'm a Nintendo freak and spend hours on this site. Don't know any other sites as this is the only one I actually post on. Not much use really, sorry.

I was just going to start a similar thread so its good to know that I'm not the only one interested. I am a huge Sega nerd myself, but was just looking for some other biases. I also sort of wanted to guage Racket's success with this site, which seems to be pretty significant. (congrats Racket!)

I don't visit any other gaming forums. Most of the day I spend reading news, actually...

Digitpress is the only other retro gaming place I visit for forums. I also go to CheapAssGamer for video game deal discussions and there are some posts about game collecting if someone found a really good deal.

Right now I only post here and the Achieve360Points forums. It's true there's a lot of Sega talk here, but that's fine by me. I've always been a Sega fan, but I'm not a Saturn owner like a lot of people here. This forum has a lot of good topics, a friendly community and the Together Retro club is awesome. People seem to be open-minded as well, and respectful about other consoles and opinions even if they don't share them. There's a lot of Microsoft bashing on other game forums, so it's nice to get away from that.

I'm also an "ancient" over at GameFAQs, but rarely ever post there. Don't get me started on how low it's sunk over the last five years. It has the worst gaming community on the net by a mile. I should just close my account and wash my hands of the stink forever.

Well I've got account at several communities. I've only been actually active at like 3 (I consider over 50 posts in over a year active). And the irony is, those 3 were all Sega communities.

This is the only video game community I'm still active at. SegaXtreme and Sega-16 were some older hang outs of mine. I lurk them every once in a while from time to time.

Most of the forums I frequent are more programming related, though possibly game programming, they aren't communities anything like this. Those places include blade3d, xna forums, as3 forums, a couple C#/C++ forums, and a a handful of theoretical math forums.

I check the SHMUP and the Sega-16 forums every so often, but really don't post much. This is the only site I really use. Why you ask? Because it's exactly what I'm into.
