I hate people who tell me what I should do on my video games

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'm lucky enough to have friends who appreciate retro games. They never particularly want to play them but, when they come over they always ask what's new in it and they love looking at the box art and such.

I read this...

"The best part of it was when my friend steve says sell your stuff your 35 and your still playing video games old ones at that"

...to mean the op is 35.

Also, in my experience, different friends fit different segments of my interests. One friend might be a movie buff, the other an old school gamer, the other a techie type. It sounds like maybe you need to stick with Madden and beer with this particular friend and find a couple new old-school gaming friends. Or just be satisfied with online communities for retro gaming appreciation.
and thats why i come to racketboy. i follow other sites but racketboy is my first site to go to :D

Very well, welcome to the RB community.

Concerning your situation, you'll find that sooner or later your friends will find a retro game they fall in love with immediately, or one they have missed for quite a while.

If you pop in say, SMB 3/NBA JAM/Mortal Kombat/Turtles in Time, and they have no interest in playing...well, then you are probably out of luck.

Basically whenever anyone says, "But you could sell that stuff for good money!" as if that's an end in itself, what they really mean is, "You could turn that stuff into cash, and then turn that cash into other stuff -- stuff that I personally find way more interesting -- and I'm totally preoccupied with imagining that!" They're just not empathizing with the fact that your pursuits are as worthwhile to you as their pursuits are to them, or that different people have different standards for value, fun, etcetera.

I wouldn't get too annoyed about it. It's going to happen in regards to almost everything you do with everybody you know at some point or another.

That said, some people are less judgmental than others with their curiousity and/or confusion. So if your friend's really a jerk about it and twisting it into a moral issue, I'd take a break from him for a while.

When I was living in the dorms (when I still went to university...) my roommate had a PS3 and the first thing he did when he moved in was go out and buy Uncharted 1 and 2. He ended up playing through them before me (I was deep into League of Legends addiction at this point) so, when I finally got around to playing them, he watched me play and told me what to do every step of the way.

I hate that. That's what I thought this thread was about from the title.

That's another thing that gets me mad. Instead of enjoying uncharted the game and all the movie scenes of the game and the hints your friend ruins it. It's like going to the movies to see like star wars episode 1 now at the theaters. You may have seen it but your kids haven't. Lets tell your kids everything that's going to happen in the movie so your kid will hate the movie.

Dude, I am so sorry that your period key broke.
