Oh, I thought you were talking about a way to do it globally. There's no way to do it from the "View new posts" or "View active topics" filters, which also means that topics I've already read will continue to show up under "View new posts." I know that vBulletin has an option to mark all read from the New Posts filter, as well as globally.Hobie-wan wrote:When you're in the root of a section, say Off-Topic, there's a link over on the top right that says "Mark Topics Read". It will clear any unread posts in that section as of the way they appear while you're looking at them at that moment.sabrage wrote:Tell me how to do this ಠ_ಠHobie-wan wrote:mark the rest read.

IDK, not any more than the dedicated what's it worth thread, or some similar thread. I just picture all the posts being one-offs. Like the simple example I gave in my last post, that's how simple I see the actual posts being.Hobie-wan wrote:Seems like a reasonable idea to me. It will require people to pay attention to the thread to help too much though.
When I start posting, I click 'View your posts' first. That way, I can reply to threads I've already posted in. After I check that, then I'll start to browse new threads.
But anyway, it's not like everyone would have to keep up with the thread. If you see the thread get bumped up (either in VYP or VNP or VAT) and feel like checking it, then fine. If not, probably a dozen other members will.

Thanks for looking into it. I'll see if I can check out your site this weekend. Regarding Tapatalk, yes, you do have to pay for the app but personally, I think it's worth it because they did a great job. From reading their forums, it seems that the developers offer very good support. I know because I had an issue with "unread posts" that they resolved quickly.SpaceBooger wrote: The problem with forumrunner and tapatalk is with every external plugin there is security risk. Plus purchasing an app to post is something we want to avoid. I have tested both already, and we are now looking into a free app-less solution.
I have been using the spacebooger.com forums as a testing ground and have a theme currently installed that racket and I have been discussing porting over to this site. (check it out on your mobile phone if you want and PM me any feedback - the more help the merrier)
This isn't a promise that it will happen soon, there are both pros and cons to going 100% mobile, I just wanted to let everyone know that it is something we are working on.
If we're able to use an app-less solution, I'm fine with it.

When you're done, click "Board Index" near the top left and you'll be looking at all of the forum sections. Then there's a "Mark Forums Read" link in the top right that will do that.sabrage wrote: Oh, I thought you were talking about a way to do it globally. I seriously think you're all doing it wrong when reading the forums. Maybe I should make a guide.

Re: Official Racketboy Suggestion Forum Thread
Everyone was a NOOB once and some are still learning, but how about we make a guide to posting?
some general tips and such.
I know some people have had problems posting their gaming pics here. They try to upload their home pics, and the computer said the file was too big. Some dont use imageshack/ cloud photosites, and because of that some dont post pics here.
I did eventually find out about "picture resizer" programs. If someone looks on the net, they can find free programs to shrink your pics.
It depends on what your operating system is, but they are out there.
Even now, after almost two years here I still have a hard time putting words over the weblinks we have to post.

I think the biggest issue I have with trying to use the iPad to view this forums is the unread posts icon. It's very tiny.
The leftmost icon is a good size and all it does it indicate whether or not you have unread posts. If one could click on it to open new posts, that would solve the problem.

Re: Official Racketboy Suggestion Forum Thread
I suggest we make it against the rules to start new "Top 100 X" threads. Maybe not permanently, but at least for a while. They are getting really old. If people here want to do lists, maybe they should submit Top 10 lists on Gamefaqs instead.

Or put restrictions on them. For Christ's sake I don't get the idea of threads that literally just list stuff without any rankings and don't even actually categorize what counts as "x" in "list the top 100 x games".
I thought at some point people would actually install a ranking system to their 100 lists, but is is just people randomly naming shit. Those and the threads that keep popping up that are all essentially "What is your favorite game?".
Re: Official Racketboy Suggestion Forum Thread
Do we really want to be censoring stuff like that? Why not rather engage in constructive criticism and start offering a proper order rather than randomness? Be an example, and not merely a critic. It's too easy to be a critic.

I agree. I don't think saying "no more Top ____" works. But I do say (and have said a few times recently) that I'd encourage members to go back to discussing games at length rather than just naming titles and sticking them on a list at random.o.pwuaioc wrote:Do we really want to be censoring stuff like that?
