Best Hard Rock Albums of the 70s

Mrs. Metal Jesus joins me for a very special music episode, where we reminisce about our favorite Hard Rock albums of the 1970s. And when we say "albums", yes we mean big, black and beautiful vinyl. Music is a big part of our lives and this is a nice deviation this week from video games. We hope you like it!

What albums did I miss? Love to hear your thoughts...

Good video, definitely some great albums on there... But if you do a "Best Hard Rock of the 60's" I better see Blue Cheer on there!

I am sad you went with Burn instead of Machine Head.

Thought long and hard about that...but Machine Head is covered in the Made in Japan album, which is from that tour. And honestly, their versions on that album, are even better than the originals!

I don't think you even mentioned that. That's something you NEEDED to mention.

Surprised there was no London Calling by the Clash, or any of the Rolling Stones' albums from the early '70s. The Eagles' Hotel California and Fleetwood Mac's Rumours would've also been good choices.

Depending on your interpretation of hard rock, one could also make a case for Jethro Tull's Aqualung or Thick as a Brick, or Fragile by Yes.
Gaming accomplishments:
Nibbler (marathon): 251,169,160 / Nibbler (one life): 5,263,360 (WR)
Donkey Kong: 423,100 [L12-1] (150th place as of 2019-01-15)
Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017
Shrek SuperSlam: won largest tournament in game's history (Shrekfest 2018)

I almost included Hotel California, because two songs off that album are hard rock masterpieces IMHO: Life in the Fast Lane & Hotel California. I also planned on including Aerosmith Rocks... but sadly, the video was running a little long... and albums had to be cut.

Do you still remember December's foggy freeze?

I was going to ask what of Rush's 2112, but I see you mentioned it in the comments. Like KISS, that was the album that was gonna make or break the band after Caress of Steel did not sell well and the record company was clamping down on them to make something more commercial and accessible, but Rush stayed true to themselves, and 2112 was a big hit.

I love The Clash, but I wouldn't call them Hard Rock. Punk with some raggae, new wave, and other things mixed in, but not hard rock.

February's been hella colder than December was.

Though probably one of the lesser-known songs from that album, my favorite from Aqualung was Hymn 43. Most wouldn't agree with me though. :P
