Can you use it to get calls from the commissioner?

My parents didn't want to pay the extra few bucks a month for tone either. I'm pretty sure they are on tone now, but through high school at least it was pulse. We hadn't had a rotary phone since I was little, but all of the phones were set to pulse. I remember switching the phone to tone after connecting to automated systems so I could navigate menus. It is most definitely your service not supporting pulse dialing.

This also reminds me I kind of want an old avocado rotary phone like we had when I was little. The kitchen appliances were avocado too.

The rotary phone that came with my parent's house (built in the 70's) remained on the wall in the kitchen well into the 90's. I remember when I was young, friends would come over and ask to call home, they'd pick up the phone and then not know how to dial it.

Looked like this one, a different color though. Came complete with your phone number in the middle of the dialing wheel! Although, my parents did have a touch tone phone in another room.

By the way guys, that picture of the black phone I linked before, that's not mine. I only used that pic as an example, my phone looks identical to it.

It's 999 in the UK, which isn't much better

That's actually why I always wanted a red phone. Next on my list is a bust of Abe Lincoln that conceals a red button.

@Fvgazi: Totally try to get that phone.

Nice phone! Mine came from my Mom's house, been in the family since the 70s. I was lucky to remember to get the wall hookup, the phone hangs on a proprietary wall jack with a sliding phone jack plug in the back. Has scars from decades of use, still works like a charm with clear sounds from the Pacific Bell speaker. One thing nice about the handset is I can wrap my paws around it and still have the ear and mouth piece up close. The touch tones in the house offer quicker dialing, but once in a while I like twisting the dial. :D

@ Luke - I posted a couple of links in my previous reply, would one of those work?

@ Luke: Nice! That's identical to my phone, only mine is black. I wish I had a second land line, then I would get a red one like that and have them side by side.

@ CRTGAMER: Yup, that's exactly the same phone that came with my parent's house. I think I still have it, but the handset broke (cracked in half). I could probably just get the handset from another phone and put it together, but I don't have a spot for it since it's wall mounted.

And any help on using them with a modem will help too!
