Their were more like this but they were on the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance.SwooshBear wrote:Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
My personal favorite Zelda, I wish there could have been more 2D ones like this.

Re: Lets name the Top 200 SNES games

One of the things I remember fondly about the 16-bit era was the quality licensed games. Typically, they came from Konami, Capcom, Sega and some amazing ones from Virgin Interactive. Now and days, you'll rarely ever see big dogs like Konami, Capcom and Sega ever touch a licensed property ironically enough. For years I used to hear the young newbs on various gaming websites and magazines talk about how licensed games always sucked, clearly knowing nothing about the 16-bit era. Kids today. This one was a fun platformer that was bright and colorful and had plenty of cool cameos and references to the show. Just look at the first level here and you can see what a good job Konami did staying true to the license

Gamerforlife might just make the thread follow-worthy. I've now become curious to play Animaniacs for SNES, I think that alone attests to my statement. Having said that I suppose I'll contribute a submission:
Yu Yu Hakusho Final

A freaking awesome 2D fighter that all fans of the genre will enjoy. No knowledge of the source material is really required, it's just a high quality fighter that's very obscure due to not being published in North American territories. Much better than the more popular Genesis/MegaDrive game. Good music, tight controls, large cast, lots of modes, definitely worth a play if you're itching for a good retro fighter.
My in-depth review. Hate to make my post seem like a bump for my blog, but yeah, lots of info/screens/videos in the link.

1: Super Mario World
2: The Adventures of Batman and Robin
3: Killer Instinct
4: Wild Guns
5: Street Fighter II Turbo
6: Sparkster
7: Demon's Crest
8: Battletoads in Battlemaniacs
9: Assault Suits Valken
10: Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
11: Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius
12: Animaniacs
13: Yu Yu Hakusho Final
14: Imperium
15: Star Fox

So this was Nintendo's big f*** you to one of Sega's slogans: "Sega does what Nintendon't."
This needed no external add-on, or any extra purchase. It was its own cartridge that worked on any standalone Super Nintendo. It made great simplistic use of the polygon capabilities they had. Outer space levels had this wonderfully dark and edgy aura about them, going from complete desolation to being attacked everywhere, going inside large spaceships and blowing them up Star Wars IV style. Boss fights were genre defining, having no problem with "unfairness" or repetition. Think about it, this was the first solid polygon-based game, and you were already fighting giant spaceships. It was a fantastic game, even to today's standards. Many people argue that this is the best Star Fox installment to date.
Star Fox 2 should go in the not-existing honorable mentions section.

Super Ghouls N' Ghosts
I love this game. So fun and so brutal at the same time.
