ninja 5-0 GBA?

Post by jay_red »

Hey guys, I just got a package from a trade on another forum, only expecting to get Iridion II, packaged with it was Ninja 5-0. I assumed the person just threw in a cheapo game to make up for taking forever to send. The game at first glance looks like a bootleg, even the cart is hard to put into the GBA, I decided to see what it was about anyway.

First thing I notice is that the title screen doesnt match the cart, displaying "Ninja Cop" I feel more assured that this is a boot. The production values seem high, and I start to play. Holy crap this game is cool, you throw ninja stars, use a sword, swing like spider man, it all looks fluid and controls very well. There is no way this is a boot I think to myself.

I look it up, and it seems to be a pretty obscure title, then I check on ebay to see what it goes for, and holy crap this is no cheap game at all! Looks to sell around the $50 mark... I am going to contact the other trader and see whats up with throwing it in, but quite a surprise on my part...

Yeah, Ninja Five-O is one of the rarest GBA games. I haven't heard about the price dropping though; it used to go for $80+ cart-only.

I also remember IGN or some other site saying it was the 23rd best game for the system, which only makes demand higher. Unless a slew of carts came out of the woodwork, I can't see why the price would go down.

Yes that game is really very good. I think its main flaw is that it is a bit on the short side (maybe it was just that it was so good I wanted more levels).

Just a tidbit of trivia, 5-0 is slang for cop.

Little bit more trivia for you, Ninja Cop is the PAL name for Ninja 5-0. But with a different label like you said, it sounds like it's a boot.

this is what I was going to say. It was probably a PAL bootleg, so yeah it's worth way less than a legit PAL copy but still... awesome game to get for free.

Ninja 5-0/Cop is a great game. Probably the best Ninja game to not have Strider or Joe Musashi. ;)
